Hi,

I believe that you should focus on touch, that is keeping the ball near you and moving it the way you want it to move.

Try practising cones, start off with a 60 degree angle between cones then move it up to 45 degrees, practising mainly on the outer foot dribble where you carry the ball around the cone with your outer foot, the foot opposite the cone, changing foot when ever you round defender. Eg. cone on left, outer right foot dribble, then shift cg when the cone is on your right, outer left foot dribble.

Which in matches very well is the defender, this allows you some distance between the defender and the ball as you would be in the middle. Speed wise, you should crank it up from slow to top speed because quick is what you need in matches, getting around defenders and the change of centre of gravity. Most top dribblers with good control practise this alot. If you go to you tube, you notice the dribbling pattern of top players like, messi just to name one, relies on the change of cg.

Juggling is important to training the proprioception of your feet, coordination and timing of the ball bounce. Juggling helps to train ball anticipation and feel also.

When you're satisfied with the zig-zag cones, throw in a few straight sprints with the ball, in the middle of the zig zag course to practise pushing the ball forward while keeping a close control.

Try it and feedback would be welcomed.

Juggling helps ball-control period. The question is, how sophisticated is your juggling program to give you the desired result. There is juggling that teaches you to strike the ball, there is juggling that teaches you to put spin on the ball, there is juggling that teaches you to handle the ball very quickly. So, what do you want?

Ball-handling refers to handling the ball on the ground. It is important too that you use language that does not create confusion in what you are trying to learn, otherwise you will not know exactly what you have learned. Clarity in learning is most important. Here is an example of a good ball-handling program.
