There is really no trick to getting better over night. If you want to get comfortable with the ball, you need to spend as much time as possible with the ball. You also need to play with your head up and train every part of your foot. When you watch Lionel Messi, it looks as if the ball is glued to his shoe. He has the best close contro in the world because as a kid, he said that he played all day and that he spent as much time as he could with the ball. Also, if your coach is yelling at you because you are not working hard, it is because he expects a lot out of you as he feels you are one of the better players on the team. He feels that if you work as hard as you can, your teammates will start to push themselves as well. Also, have fun on the field. Dont force the ball and play simple, but when you think its on dont be afraid to try things because that is the only way you will get better.

Good Luck at High School Tryouts

It really depends on what position you play. Every position requires a different set of skills. If your an outside midfielder, you should work on running with the ball at your fastest pace and work on taking people on. As a striker, you must have close control and be able to play with your head up. As a central midfielder, you must have a good first touch and must be able to play quickly. The best mifielders in the world, such as Kaka, Ronaldo, Gerrard, and Messi all have close ball control. To be honest though, as you get older, the best players, or the players that stand out the most, all have the same things in common- a great first touch and skill on the ball. Any type of drill will help, but you need to push yourself and play with your head up and the game will come more natural to you, and in time, you will get a lot better.

you wanna start out learning everything slow and gradually pick it up. and i do the same in games too is panicking and then forget what to do next. so im working on that but also try setting up an obstacle or something and try to do the moves around them. hope this helps
