Nike Sportswear presents The Montalbán
A Unique Retail and Special Events Theatre in the Heart of Hollywood
From 8.8.08 to 10.31.08 the historic Montalbán Theatre will serve as the home of Nike Sportswear. For a short time, fans of the game everywhere will have access to select icons of Nike design, the new NSW Collection, a concierge-style service and a diverse array of programming.
Here at the Montalbán, the stage is where the action happens. Everything from basketball to futsal, volleyball and ping pong– even dodge ball will take to the boards each and every Sunday.
The Montalbán's stage will also host CINEMA TUESDAYS, a weekly screening series featuring innovative motion pictures, independent films and unique live events. Screenings are free and open to the public. Cinema Tuesdays began last week with the VIP premier of Beautiful Losers and will continue with the seminal sports documentary Tokyo Olympiad, followed by a sneak peek to Brett Simon’s The Assassination of a High School President. The theatre's balcony features a dramatic NIKEiD Studio. Exclusive Nike styles, colors and materials are made available to the public on a first come, first serve basis each and every Saturday. One hour appointments with a NIKEiD Design Consultant are made by visiting the concierge desk or calling 323.483.0089.
Upstairs at The Montalbán a workshop featuring wallpaper by artist Geoff McFetridge will be the backdrop for MAKE SOMETHING!!- ten different classes, ten different teachers, no more than 30 kids in each. Ed Templeton will do skateboard graphics, Money Mark will teach music and Nike’s design director, Jesse Leyva will show kids the ins and outs of sneaker design.
The Montalbán was built in 1926 by Cecil B. DeMille himself, and it has been called everything from the Doolittle, the Huntington Hartford and the Vine St. Theater in its 80-year history. For a short three months, it has been remastered as the West Coast home of Nike Sportswear.
