YACHT x Mux Mool
27 June 2011
As we’re gearing up to gear down, for a huge weekend stateside, here’s a fresh dose of discovered music straight off the 6.0 team’s playlist. Fire up the Q, throw some beers on ice, put your feet up and let it play… it’s gonna be one of “those” kinda weekends.Splitting the difference between LCD Soundsystem’s electro-punk, and the avant-garde pop funk that is Talking Heads, the American born YACHT makes it’s 6.0 debut. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the cult-inspired dance-rock duo delivers a raw digital sound, paired with; oddball lyrics, random sound effects and catchy hooks. YACHT draws the a clever line between artsy music that’s easy to get down to. We like.
Turning the electronic tables on the previous artist, Mux Mool AKA Brian Lindgren, drops head-nodding hip-hop beats with consistent electro funk layered into every step. Inspired by everything from abstract electronic noise to classic video-game music, the Minnesota bred producer/DJ/musician got the beats that make it bounce. It’s not everyday we’re grooving to music this good… wait yes, yes it is… Mux Mool included. Peep him right here on Nike6.com.
Also rounding out this week’s musical refresh, take a look at Brooklyn’s own The Hairs, hip-hop sounds from Ta-Ku out of Perth, AUS and surf inspired indie rock by So. Cal’s Plateaus. Now go… make party!
