Travel Tunes

Board – CHECK, bag – CHECK, passport – CHECK, headphones – CHECKCHECK, playlist… we got’chu. This week’s musical refresh is fueled up, hatches closed, taxing down the runway for a global summer hop. With tunes like these we can’t help but feel inspired to jump a plane and take off into the unknown. Never sitting idle.

Spotted in electro sets from here to Burma, Jack Dixon's 2step-house garage tracks take things deep into the night… 3am type joints. Coming out swinging with deep, pulsating rhythms and hypnotic vocals Dixon’s sound delivers an up-tempo soul and bounce that’s hard to shake, and why would you. Calling London home base, Dixons turned the spotlight on the UK’s progressive electronic underground once again. Groove to it, you’ll dig.

Other Brit based band making it’s debut on Insider this week, Young Legionnaire, was pieced together as members of The Automatic and Bloc Party began collaborating on a musical project: asking musicians to write, record and finish a song in one day’s time, for a full album. Paul Mullen (The Automatic), Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party) and William Bowerman (La Roux) played their first show as Young Legionnaire in January 2010, and in early 2011 released their freshman album ‘Crisis Works.’ A hardcore thrash rock, the band’s song “Futures Finished” receives a warm welcome here at nike6.com.

With the sun setting, train leaving the station and last call being made, snatch these up on the way out… DJ Revolution straight out of the LBC, rock from Minnesota’s The Idle Hands, and soulful San Diego hip hop from Dannu. Peace out.
