Winter X Games 15
27 January 2011
Winter X Games 15 hits the hills, streets and party spots of Aspen this week, and guarantees to be another amazing show for the history books. The Nike 6.0 team rolled into Aspen early this week and settled into their two mountain-side luxury estates. Fully kitted from top-to-bottom, the athletes are enjoying the cozy relaxation of the 3-floor, 21-room, all-amenities lifestyle. The house is a much needed retreat for the three days of intense practice and four more days of non-stop competition. Most noted news of the week is Halldor Helgason's last-minute invite to compete in Real Snow. Known for his rail skills, Halldor did not have to make a video to get invited, but did receive a special invite when one of the athletes decided to pull out last minute. Halldor has also been invited to Slopestyle and Big Air, which he took X Games gold in last season.
Thursday night watch Nike 6.0 Snowboard team riders Louie Vito, Mason Aguirre, Matt Ladley and Greg Bretz dominate the Superpipe and try their best to break through to the top spots to make it into Men's Finals on Sunday night. Also look out for your favorite Nike 6.0 Women's Snowboard team riders, Ellery Hollingsworth and Elena Hight in Women's Superpipe on Saturday night. X Games 15 Snowboard Slopestyle will prove to be one of the most progressive events in X Games history. Nike 6.0 team rider Spencer O'Brien will be holding it down for the women and Sage Kotsenburg and Halldor Helgeson will be representing for the men.
On the skiing side of things, make sure to check out Jossi Wells and Simon Dumont going for gold in the Superpipe final on Friday, and Sammy Carlson and Andreas Hatveit battling it out on the Slopestyle course come Saturday night. Then it's anyone's guess who will take top honors in the skiing Big Air Finals later that same night.
Stay tuned for the latest updates right here from Winter X Games 15 and your Nike 6.0 crew in Aspen. And to go even further behind the scenes with our snowboarders, follow all the action as it happens on our Nike 6.0 Snowboard Facebook page.
