Fresh November Tracks

Feast on this... a musical refresh straight from the audible cornucopia of our favorite November tracks. Thankful for a bountiful sampling of new music, we’re happy to introduce a handful of sounds that we’ve been digging into recently. So sit back, relax and enjoy.

Raised on a steady diet of D.I.Y. music, in the small, yet flourishing, scene of Sacramento, CA, "!!!" are no strangers to making music to move to. After linking up on tour together, in 1996, members of Sacramento bands Black Liquorice and Popesmashers formed "!!!". Pronounced as Chk Chk Chk, the band’s name is a somewhat confusing byproduct of subtitles from the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, where the bushmen’s language of clicking sounds was represented as “!”. With three albums already under their seasoned belt, !!!’s senior project Strange Weather, Isn’t It? released to critical acclaim in August of 2010, led by hit single “AM/FM.” Peep the the track here and discover the full album on your own.

Other bands to take note of and give a listen to on this week’s musical refresh include; the heavy bass driven electronic beats of D.C.’s Thunderball, Toronto’s own hip-hop head Shad, melodic death metal from the internationally composed System Divide, and the experimental drum & bass of the UK based Squarepusher.
