Red Ledge Ripped
03 February 2010
This past Saturday Mt. Seymour locals were treated to a jam at the Nike 6.0 Greatest Hits park, where they got a chance to ride a reproduction of the renowned Red Ledge. The 100+ shredders came from all over, some as far away as Nanaimo and Edmonton, to session the red beast. Though conditions were not ideal, the music, BBQ and sweet, sugary flow of pop kept the blood pumping all day. Sean Keating on the mic kept everyone entertained and hooked up the crowd with 6.0 swag. And those throwing down banger combos on the fast, wide ledges were hooked up with new 6.0 kicks. Some of the standout snowboarders of the day included Justin VDP, who killed it with a switch front board and 270 on, 270 off. Chelsea Armstrong added a front board and Corey McIntosh threw down a front lip and 50/50 to 180.
"It was great to see kid's of all ages stepping up to the Red Ledge," said Mark Williams, Terrain Park Manager for Mt. Seymour. "It was awesome to see rider's boardsliding through the kink and spinning into and off it. It's going to be interesting to see the creativity and tricks that are going to go down on the Burlington double kink. We are going to have so many amazing features in the Greatest Hits park, kids aren't going to know where to start."
Big props to the crew who made it all happen: Mt. Seymour Park Crew, Darrin at Snowpark Solutions, Markey and Hangman Productions and Tyler, the master cat driver, who is splitting his time between Mt. Seymour and Cypress Mountain (where he is helping build the Feb. 18 Super Pipe).
The final addition to the 6.0 Greatest Hits park at Mt. Seymour will be the Vermont Double Set from Burlington. The possibilities are endless with the double set kinked flat bar, toe jam kinked flat bar, wallride and closeout drop rail on top. Be sure to make it out as we celebrate the opening of this feature on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Stay tuned here for all the details, or follow Nike 6.0 on Facebook and Twitter.
