Snow Team Steps Up at X

Our snowboard team repped big-time in Aspen this weekend. Out of six teamriders invited to the X Games, five made the finals in their areas of expertise, and Mikkel Bang even brought home the bronze medal in Big Air.

In fact, Mikkel had a pretty bangin’ weekend in general. He scored a second place in the slopestyle elimination round on Thursday. Saturday evening saw him on fire in the Big Air—spinning a picture-perfect switch backside 1260, then a frontside 1080, then a lofty backside rodeo for bronze medal status. The next morning, he came out to clinch sixth place in the slopestyle finals.

Louie Vito and Greg Bretz did their thing in the halfpipe finals—Greg, working his way through a back-to-back 1080 combo (that included a double cork) into an über-stylish 1260. Vito worked his back-to-back double cork magic and touched down just behind Bretz in sixth place. Peetu Piiroinen made his way to X from Finland, looking to sharpen his game before heading off to Vancouver to do his country proud.

On the women’s side, Ellery Hollingsworth chucked a Cab 1080 in the superpipe finals, and seriously almost had it! So sick. She landed in fifth place, and Miss Elena Hight ended up just behind her in sixth.

Congrats to all!
