Greg, Louie and Elena to Rep USA in Vancouver

Ladies and gentleman, Vancouver is a little over two weeks away, and the U.S. halfpipe contingent was just announced. With that said, we’d like to extend huge high fives to Nike 6.0 riders Greg Bretz, Louie Vito and Elena Hight, who are all booking plane tickets to Canada right now, as well as getting mentally and physically prepped to rep the U.S.A. at this preeminent competition of nations.

Now, the road to Vancouver was an edge-of-seats, nail-biting affair for every rider concerned. While Louie had his spot on the American team locked up after two silver medals at the Copper Mountain and Mammoth Grand Prix stops (Louie was the only rider besides Shaun White to link back to back double corks!), Greg and Elena had to duke it out until the final bell.

Elena’s average standings were hovering around the fifth place mark, but a silver medal at the second Mammoth Grand Prix (where she stomped sick back to back 900s!) pushed her ahead of fellow Nike rider Ellery Hollingsworth. Here, she maintained until the close of qualifiers. Young'un Greg Bretz infiltrated the Grand Prix scene with two sixth places early on (at Copper and Mammoth). At the Park City stop, however, Greg shook things up, landing on the podium in third, followed by another fourth in the final event. This left him in a heated three-way tie that was broken, after a short deliberation, by the decision of the ever-wise U.S. Team coaches.

Anyway, congratulations, friends! Make us proud!
