Nike 6.0 on Tour with Picaresque & BLORR Stop 5
17 May 2009
Stop #5 at Landshark in Jacksonville Beach, Fl.
It is tough to compare these stops on this tour, being that every town has its own little flavor to offer... But that said, it is gosh darn sweet as pie to come home and play for all your wide eyed, smiling, gorgeous friends. Landshark was the host to our Wednesday night premiere. Filled with flats-screens on every wall and a house system that boomed the Picaresque soundtrack (which deserves its own WOW volume 9 commercial its so darn infectious) into the bodies of the eager audience.
An audience that was sprinkled sweetly with all the top dogs in Jacksonville... From Red Bull head honcho Ryan King perfecting the Wazzy shuffle, to Asher Nolan and Jay Dodson boogying down and of course decked out in the latest Jagmania Apparel. Poolt, Mikey and Crego from Jax's top surf communtiy sites GHive and SurfJaxPier all came out to be a part of the activities as well... That along with young shredders and too many of our amazing friends to count made Landshark a vortex frothing with sleazy, sassy energy hypnotizing all who came too close.

I do believe during BLORR's ecstatic set I saw our film-maker Mikey Detemple pull off a one-handed cartwheel over Styxxx, the Sultan of Sleaze as we like to call him.... and if you've seen the bamboo chutes for legs on Styxxx, you know that's one high mark to clear. After Wednesday night it is a safe assessment that surfer dudes and dudettes alike really like to dance.. Love to Dance!!!

The lovely crowd cheering for an Encore til BLORR had no choice but to whip up some more B.S.R.R. was PROOF in the rice pudding... whaaaa Ewwww. But really it was... (oh and for those of ya not AIM savvy.. B.S.R.R. = Booty Shaking Rock n Roll motha truckerrssss).

Stop #4 at The Compound Board Shop in Sarasota, Fl.
It was a dreamy day in Satellite Beach. What else would I be doing but laying by the pool with a handful of pretty ladies and listening to my buds Page and Plant reminiscing of wild nights from their 73' Asia tour.... Just having a laugh and bronzing my hide. Right around the time Jimbo was explaining to me just exactly what a Taiwanese Disappearing Ping Pong show was, I got a call from Toots and a text from Hot Damm at the same time telling me to get my butt in gear for Sarasota.... It was time to GO!!
So for the third time this week we headed for the Gulf Coast. We reached the Compound thunderin in our Nike 6.0 Mobile with plenty of sunlight left to this Friday. It was a refreshing shin-dig to pull up to if I might say... The Compound surf shop was buzzing with kids buying surfboards like they were hamburgers, families trying clothes on, and teens chasing each other around the clothing racks. We were met with smiles by the whole crew including owner Jacob Shields (who i must note was sporting some rad 6.0's and a lovely tie dye tee as if instinctively he knew the evening was gonna get trippy and hippy as heck).
As the sun set,, the smell of the bbq grill filled the air and the Picaresque surf film floated its way into the eyes and ears of the Compound crowd, ranging in age from 4 to 40!!! Surfers and skaters, moms and dads, dudes and dames! After the film they all crowded around to watch BLORR play a mixed set of dance jammies and gritty delta blues.... Enthused by the magic witnessed the previous night at the Ra Ra Riot concert and thankful to have overcome that darn piggie flu just days before,, the boys radiated so much R n R through that surf shop indo boards and Volcom stones were swingin from the ceiling nearly onto Cookie's head.
The stars of the night were definitely everyone who came out.. Hold the ahhh's, I mean it peeps, it is quite the community the Compound has going there and they embraced Mikey's Picaresque and BLORR with an abundance of smiles and high fives... Even a few shaka's here and there. So Special thanks to Rational Anthem who rocked the house to a close with some good ol' punk rock, Amber who let me borrow her nail clippers, and Jacob and the crew for their hospitality. Now, off to Jacksonville Beach, home of Bastard Lovechild of Rock n Roll! ya just know things are gonna get wierd.
