There's Something in the Water
There's Something in the WaterCATEGORY: training / by Brianna.O / July 23, 2008 / 11:30 AM-
For any age and at any level, if you want to tone up, check out your local Water Aerobics class. It is like a mix of cardio, muscle max and kick boxing in the water! The key to training in the water is its resistance factor, which allows you work as easy or hard as you want.
The Water Aerobics class I took was awesome; everyone there was all about havin...

A little friendly competition
A little friendly competition-
A few weeks ago I registered and fully committed to training for and running in the Nike+ Human Race. To my surprise, so did ALL of the Nike Field Reporter correspondents. Since we are all running with Nike+ I have decided to pose a little challenge to all of my peers!
On Nikeplus.com, runners can join and create different challenges. These competitions k...

Nike+ Sportband = Adventure
Nike+ Sportband = AdventureCATEGORY: training / by Dana.F / July 17, 2008 / 8:30 PM-
My new Nike+ SportBand has allowed me to expand from my old dull run to a run where I discover new sites everyday.
Growing up I really didn't know much about my neighborhood. I didn't go to school nearby and so my neighborhood basically became a place that my held my house. When I was a freshman in college I started running three and a quarter miles a day...

Pedicabs: Work or Workout?
Pedicabs: Work or Workout?-
Pedicab drivers zip around on what appears to be a “super" bike and pull tourists and pedestrians through this great city. Even on the hottest days, they are out on the streets pulling their eager passengers. I've always wondered if Pedicab driving was really the workout it appeared to be. So I went straight to the source. Melissa Von Ludwig has been a New York City Pedicab driver for a number of years. We met up in Central Park where she gave me a crash course in Pedicab driving.

Flying and Flipping Over the Beach
Flying and Flipping Over the BeachCATEGORY: training / by Mina.M / July 16, 2008 / 3:30 PM-
Adrenaline and nerves filled my body as I climbed the 30-foot ladder to reach a small platform, where I was to step off the edge and fly. That's right fly. What is this thrilling sport? It's the aerial art of the Flying Trapeze, where you learn to overcome your fear of heights and soar through the air like a bird.
With a background in gymnastics, I figur...

Rock On!
Rock On!CATEGORY: training / by Tereza.O / July 11, 2008 / 10:25 AM-
Florida isn't exactly known for dramatic cliffs and soaring spires. But I still found a thriving rock climbing community at Vertical Ventures in Tampa, Florida. Housed in a warehouse space, this rock climbing gym is jam packed with talented young climbers scaling the walls and cheering on other climbers from the padded floor. About half of the athletes are women.

225 mph? That Ain't Nothing!
225 mph? That Ain't Nothing!CATEGORY: training / by Katie.O / July 10, 2008 / 6:30 PM-
What sport incorporates fast speeds, loud noises, crazy fans and a whole lot of competition? Race car driving!
Race car driving is a sport that embodies characteristics different than other sport because the performance is not only determined by the driver, but also by the handling of a car going 225 mph. I work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of...

Training for the Nike+ Human Race!
Training for the Nike+ Human Race!-
This week marks my first official week of training for the Nike+ Human Race on August 31st. The Human race is a 10K (about 6.2 miles), so I definitely need to get some more miles under my belt before I am ready. At this point I can run about 3 miles comfortably. To reach my goal, I have found a training regimen that seems perfect for me.
The training pro...

The Chicago Force
The Chicago ForceCATEGORY: training / by Dana.F / July 8, 2008 / 5:00 PM-
The Chicago Force, a women's tackle football team, is a force to be reckoned with. The team has only been around for six short years but already has two undefeated seasons and four division championships. The Force is definitely a star among the 41 teams in the league and the reason for this is because the women train hard while having full time jobs.

Superstition
SuperstitionCATEGORY: training / by Krystal.B / July 4, 2008 / 11:45 AM-
As athletes we put our bodies through torture. We run until our lungs scream for air, we lift weights until our muscles scream “mercy" and we eat healthy and drink water until our bladders scream “I'm going to explode"! We do all this to prepare ourselves, mentally, physically and emotionally, for game day. We want to have no doubt in our mind that we can win. And when we do, we gain a sense of satisfaction and a sense of pride that all those hours we put in torturing ourselves, paid off.

The Sweat Is Real!
The Sweat Is Real!-
I read magazines almost more than I read books (sad but true!). So I was really excited when I found out that I would have the opportunity to be in one!
I spent a couple of days in New Jersey last month at the Nike Women print ad photo shoot. The first day, the rest of the athletes and I gathered for our fitting. Here we found out what outfits we would wear in the shoot and what we would be doing over the next two days. Bright and early the next morning we headed out t...

The Nike Zoom Trainer Essential-
In my head I can picture the ideal shoe. It would be lightweight, flexible, have good traction and most importantly, be very comfortable. Imagine my surprise when I found out about the Nike Zoom Trainer Essential, which is all of the above, plus a lot more!
I went to Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon to talk straight to the source, Denis Dekovic who is the man behind this super shoe. He designed the Nike Zoom Trainer Essential and I got to talk with him about some...

Minnesota High School Syncronized Swimming State Meet
Minnesota High School Syncronized Swimming State Meet-
Synchronized Swimming has been labeled as a “girly" sport by many. Lots of people wouldn't even consider synchronized swimming a sport. Many make fun of the makeup; layers upon layers of waterproof makeup that synchronized swimmers proudly call their “clown makeup". Some make fun of the hair, which stays perfectly in place during routines thanks to two secret ingredie...

Kristen Kjellman: National Elite Team Lacrosse Player-
Lacrosse is a sport that I know absolutely nothing about. I’ve never played it before and it is not very popular in Nebraska yet. So, when I found out that I was going to interview one of the top women’s Lacrosse players in the nation, I was really excited!
Kristen Kjellman has been playing Lacrosse since high school and helped lead her college team to three consecutive national championships. She is currently an employee for Nike and she plays on the National Elite t...
