A little friendly competition
A little friendly competition-
A few weeks ago I registered and fully committed to training for and running in the Nike+ Human Race. To my surprise, so did ALL of the Nike Field Reporter correspondents. Since we are all running with Nike+ I have decided to pose a little challenge to all of my peers!
On Nikeplus.com, runners can join and create different challenges. These competitions k...

Nikewomen.com Featured Artist: Jamie Lidell-
Jamie Lidell's music cannot be put into any bubble. His music takes its influence from many different genres ranging from soul to alternative. On his latest album, “Jim," each track is like a box of chocolates…You never know what you're going to get!
His song, “Another day" sounds like the 1960's Soul, Pop and R&B hits our parents grew up listening to. T...

Pedicabs: Work or Workout?
Pedicabs: Work or Workout?-
Pedicab drivers zip around on what appears to be a “super" bike and pull tourists and pedestrians through this great city. Even on the hottest days, they are out on the streets pulling their eager passengers. I've always wondered if Pedicab driving was really the workout it appeared to be. So I went straight to the source. Melissa Von Ludwig has been a New York City Pedicab driver for a number of years. We met up in Central Park where she gave me a crash course in Pedicab driving.

Training for the Nike+ Human Race!
Training for the Nike+ Human Race!-
This week marks my first official week of training for the Nike+ Human Race on August 31st. The Human race is a 10K (about 6.2 miles), so I definitely need to get some more miles under my belt before I am ready. At this point I can run about 3 miles comfortably. To reach my goal, I have found a training regimen that seems perfect for me.
The training pro...

The Sweat Is Real!
The Sweat Is Real!-
I read magazines almost more than I read books (sad but true!). So I was really excited when I found out that I would have the opportunity to be in one!
I spent a couple of days in New Jersey last month at the Nike Women print ad photo shoot. The first day, the rest of the athletes and I gathered for our fitting. Here we found out what outfits we would wear in the shoot and what we would be doing over the next two days. Bright and early the next morning we headed out t...

The Nike Zoom Trainer Essential
The Nike Zoom Trainer Essential-
In my head I can picture the ideal shoe. It would be lightweight, flexible, have good traction and most importantly, be very comfortable. Imagine my surprise when I found out about the Nike Zoom Trainer Essential, which is all of the above, plus a lot more!
I went to Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon to talk straight to the source, Denis Dekovic who is the man behind this super shoe. He designed the Nike Zoom Trainer Essential and I got to talk with him about some...

Kristen Kjellman: National Elite Team Lacrosse Player
Kristen Kjellman: National Elite Team Lacrosse Player-
Lacrosse is a sport that I know absolutely nothing about. I’ve never played it before and it is not very popular in Nebraska yet. So, when I found out that I was going to interview one of the top women’s Lacrosse players in the nation, I was really excited!
Kristen Kjellman has been playing Lacrosse since high school and helped lead her college team to three consecutive national championships. She is currently an employee for Nike and she plays on the National Elite t...

Golfing 9 Holes
Golfing 9 HolesCATEGORY: diary / by Brittany / June 19, 2008 / 10:30 AM-
The forecast called for rain, but that didn't stop us! My brother, two of his friends and I were determined to play golf, even if we did get a little soaked doing it!
After learning the basic skills in my golf lessons, I thought it was time to get out on a course. I was excited and nervous at the first hole. I was playing with three men in their 30's. Cou...

Kickin' It with Abby Wambach
Kickin' It with Abby Wambach-
In Chicago I met up with Abby Wambach from the US women's soccer team. She was at the summit for the summer games and the team was fresh off their win at the qualifying tournament for Beijing.
The Qualifying tournament for the games was held in Mexico. The US defeated Canada and Costa Rica to earn the prized position. Abby said that they faced their fair share of obstacles at the tournament, but attributes their great team chemistry to their success.
I was e...

Team USA Softball: On The Road To Beijing
Team USA Softball: On The Road To Beijing-
I never thought I'd be on the field of Dodger's stadium. And I really never thought I'd be there interviewing the US women's softball team. But that's exactly what I got to do.
The US Softball team was there to unveil the new uniforms they will be wearing at the games in Beijing. There was also a huge 40-foot replica of the jerseys carried out on the field by young softball players. The coolest part of the Beijing bound uniforms is the 3 stars on the arm. They represen...

The Olympic Summit in Chicago!
The Olympic Summit in Chicago!-
The Beijing Summer games are just around the corner and that means it's crunch time for a lot of athletes. I went to Chicago to attend a Media summit for the games and I ran into a ton of athletes; many who still have to qualify.
The Swimming trials aren't until July, but I interviewed two world class swimmers who are ready for the challenge. Kaitlin Sandeno and Whitney Meyers are both deep in their preparation and said that they usually train for about 4-5 hours a day!...

My Last Sparq Session
My Last Sparq Session-
I just completed my very last SPARQ training session and both of my trainers were there to make sure it was a memorable one.
They started me off with a warm up, light jog and some dynamic stretching. Next, Shelly took me through a series of ab/core exercises. This time she showed me ways to advance the moves I learned in a previous session. For instance,...

Nikewomen.com Featured Artist: SantoGold-
One artist that I immediately connected with was Santogold. Santogold a.k.a. Santi White is a Philadelphia native with a very unique sound. I like to call her music a little bit of everything. She has influences from 80's pop, punk rock and Caribbean beats. I can honestly say that she doesn't sound like anyone else, so listening to her is like experiencing something brand new.
Santogold has had a lot of success on the Internet, and just recently hit the big time with h...
