Who We’re Looking For
A one-of-a-kind 18 to 24 year old with crazy charisma and sports savvy. You’ve got personality. You’ve got chutzpah. You’ve got game.

What is the Nike Field Reporter
A roving reporter who dishes with the biggest names in sports, culture, even Hollywood. If something cool is going on, chances are the Nike Field Reporter is already there. One day you could be interviewing an Olympic athlete a few hours before they go for gold. The next, you could be on the set of a major motion picture chatting with the star of the film. Your blog and video reports will be featured on the NikeWomen.com page and on the NikeWomen Facebook page. And the best part, everything is paid for by Nike.* You’ll be maxing and relaxing with famous peeps all over the country. On us.

Here’s What You Need to Do
Write an essay describing why you are the Nike Field Reporter we’ve been searching for. Tell us about your love of sports. Tell us why you belong in front of a camera. Tell us why you’re the best girl for the job. Show us you can write. Show us you’ve got star appeal. Make us want to call off the search right then and there to crown you the next NFR. If we’re buying what you’re selling, you’ll make the first cut. If that happens, we’ll get back to you with specific instructions on creating a submission video. But don’t worry about that now. Just worry about wowing us.

Keep In Mind
You must be between 18 and 24 years of age and a legal permanent resident of the United States. For eligibility reasons, we can’t accept applications from college sports team athletes.
The deadline for essay submissions is April 30, 2010. The next Nike Field Reporter will be announced on July 1, 2010. For complete details please review the Terms and Conditions. Some restrictions may apply. Void where prohibited. No purchase necessary.

This seems like such an incredible opportunity! However, I play volleyball for the University of Arizona so I am not eligible for this job. I was wondering, will an opportunity like this come again? And, why does being a collegiate athlete make you ineligible?

What about women over the age limit! I am super into sports, do fitness shows, and love to do camera filming, and I am a mom of three at the same time! I think women older have an edge and insight into things that many younger women don't! Nike, you are missing out!

There will be another opportunity like this in the future, but based on ncaa regulations no college athlete is eligible since this is a paid job and based on the rules we can not employee collegiate athletes.

The sample post can be either but whatever you choose to submit it should show your personality, writing style and how you would be if you were the Nike Field Reporter, as well as, why you would be the best choice.

Chris: Currently for this program there isn't a male counterpart but keep checking back as opportunities may be coming soon.

Katy/Nita: Currently only those actually within the age group are eligible even if you look 18-24.

As I read the email for this job my heart leaped out of my chest! Every word was me! I have done interviews on the red carpet before when I lived in Los Angeles... Sports have been and still are my life, I know music, I know celbs, I am outgoing, 5'10" blonde hair, have had no complaints in the looks department, and have a ROCKING outing personality!!! I LOVE people and being in front of the camera!! Then tragically my heart fell to my feet.. For I am 28 and cannot even be considered for this dream job . Nike you are about to make someones dreams come true!! I only wish I had a shot as well I do not think you would regret it for one second! Best wishes to all!!!

I agree with Katy, about about the women over the age limit. I would love to have a chance at this great opp. I myself am an avid sports watcher - any sport, and I would be great at this, but I know what Nike is doing, trying to appeal to the male point of viewers when it comes to sports comments. They don't want to watch an older woman with kids talk about sports, they want someone they can fantasize about, that's reality.

Bridget: You can apply so long as you won't be a college athlete when the position starts July 1 of this year.

I completely agree with Katy - there are women of all ages that use Nike products, and BUY Nike products for their families. We are the major purchasers in America, we LOVE sports, drag our kids to all their sports functions, and workout ourselves. How is our opinion not valued? If anything, it would drive up your sales to have a representative of a teenage or college kid's Mom's age.

If you are a former collegiate athlete then you are eligible to apply.

Although if you are currently a collegiate athlete in any division (NCAA, NAIA etc.) you are not eligible for the position.

This seems to be a great opportunity to be working in the field that you know about by heart. To enjoy work and be able to learn new things about it. Ever since I was young, sports has been in me, from volleyball to basketball, badminton to soccer. Its fun and at the same time, keeps you healthy. I'm not afraid to try a new sport, it kinda exciting to have a new sport in life. Being in front of the camera, is letting other see the beauty of what you are seeing..
