Training: Lacey Style

As a New Yorker, time is everything. We run around like we have our heads cut off. Where are we going? What am I doing? I have class, work and a party at eight. No time to eat, I’ll grab it on the go. Where is there time for fitness?

With a tight schedule, it’s difficult to think you could actually squeeze in time for a good workout session, never mind getting to the gym. In an attempt to keep women on their feet, Nike threw an event at Paragon in New York City and invited fitness trainer, Lacey Stone, to lead an intense workout session. It was a workout I was prepared for, but had no clue what was in store. For those unfamiliar with Lacey’s workouts, you’re in for a surprise. Her whole concept of training revolves around teamwork, which is an interesting spin considering we often deem training to be a one-woman job. Let me tell you a little bit about Lacey Stone.

Super Trainer, Lacey Stone, has been in countless magazines and knows her way around the gym to say the least! She realizes we are all busy, but likes to set realistic goals for women. Let’s break it down. There are “365 days, there’s 7 days in a week, 24 hrs in a day. Lets plan it out,” she says. Her philosophy is, “Anything is possible. There are two sides to fitness, the mental and the physical.” The mental aspect of training is something often overlooked, but something she sees just as important as the physical. “If you’re not motivated, then your not going to be consistent. If you’re not consistent, you’re not going to see results.”

Truth be told, Lacey knows how to motivate the crowd; there were about 50 of us that came to work out and all 50 of us finished strong. Everyone stuck it through and I was impressed at how each person cheered on the next. We started off our work out with a mile run to the park. Then we rocked out a hard 40 minute workout, which consisted of everything from running, pushups, squats (my favorite), jumping squats (oh yes, another good one), lunges, the classic jumping jack and a bunch more that equated to one tired sore little ol’ me by the time I was done.

It’s all about putting the idea of teamwork back into our workouts. Grab a friend and push yourselves. Funny, by the end of the workout, I was not only able to run another mile back, but I felt more energized and excited I got my workout done for the day. Doing an hour workout seems like a lot to take out of your day, but speaking from experience, going hard for an hour will give you another two hours to do work later on. Trust me, your body will thank you. Lacey says “I want people doing their best every single day.” She sure got the best out of me.

Lacey is one of the most dedicated trainers I have ever meet. She put on such an amazing, energy filled event and does so in every class and with every person she works with. It is amazing the positive energy and encouragement she gives you. It makes you want to work that much harder and keep on going. I always look forward to any event she is part of. She gives you such a great perspective and outlook.

I attended this Nike event with Lacey Stone at Paragon where I was both inspired and impressed. I take Lacey’s classes regularly so I am accustomed (and addicted) to her phenomenal ability to motivate – Lacey brings extraordinary energy and dedication to each and every class she teaches. However, at the Nike event I was newly impressed by Lacey’s ability to wholly galvanize a group of over 50 people, largely strangers, to the greater goals of feeling fit, feeling like an athlete and feeling like part of a greater team. Nike advertisements and representatives continually encourage us to train like athletes because every person is an athlete. Speaking as a former “non-athlete” in the traditional sense that I have never played sports, I find Lacey’s most unique gift to be her ability to lead every person to recognize his or her own inner athlete, and to find his or her own place on the “team” in a much broader, communal sense. She has helped me to achieve a previously unthinkable level of fitness and to find my place in a community of fellow athletes (taxi dodgers and subway surfers alike), and that is what keeps me coming back at every opportunity - in addition, of course, to her absolutely killer workouts! Thank you, Nike, for sponsoring such a fantastic, fun event – I hope this was the first of many.

There is no one like Lacey Stone. I have lived in
many cities, taken countless classes and I've
never had anyone that compares to Lacey. She's
driven, hard working and passionate about her
workouts. She's been the best motivation for me
to get in shape and I have never had a bad
workout with her. Lacey has the best attitude and
makes sure that every single person that walks
into her workouts feels like they are getting her
undivided attention and enthusiasm. I love Lacey!

I am a devout Lacey Stone Fitness follower and former fitness professional myself. I have never come across anyone quite like Lacey Stone. Her passion and motivation have re-awakened my approach to my own fitness regime, both mentally and physically.I have trained with her and take her fitness classes on a regular basis. I think her approach to women's fitness transcends gender and also can cross over to children/young adults. Lacey gives new meaning to the word "sweat"....it's FUN!

It’s true: there’s NOTHING more motivating than teamwork---even the NY Times thinks so:

When I get up in the morning and don’t feel motivated, I go to one of Lacey Stone’s group fitness classes. Inevitably, even if I can’t find my OWN motivation, I feed off of hers. She’s got plenty to spare!

I've been lucky to work out w/ Lacey and Sarina
is right, she pushes you to work your hardest
every single time you work out. I get more out of
45 minutes with Lacey (AND my friends in
class!!) than anything else i can imagine doing.
45 minutes is enough! If you work out hard and
put your all into it you do NOT need to get on a
treadmill or the elliptical machine after class. If
you have an amazing instructor like Lacey to
work out with, you're set, you see results both
physically and mentally!

I love love training with Lacey!!
In all my years of working out I have never come
across a more motivational trainer. She really
does push you above and beyond what you think
you are capable of. I cant help but feel incredibly
inspired by her.
I have never really been inclined to take classes
before, so for me, Lacey Stone is the first
instructor that has had me looking at my
schedule to see if I can squeeze in one of her
classes.
Thanks for inspiring me :)

Lacey Stone is the real deal. She is the consummate coach: driving, motivating, leading by example. Every workout inspires me dig deep for my best. But working out with Lacey does more than make you earn tighter abs, faster times, and a better-looking backside. She brings people together. No one is alone while running that mile, grinding out lunge jumps, doing series of push-ups. In a city where we pass by each other, Lacey turns working out into community.
