It was a Wednesday in late September when I told my new boss to, “shut up.”
For three days I stared at my phone, willing it to ring. I should have known better, a watched pot never boils. Like clockwork the call came moments after I relinquished the phone from my death grip. I was in yoga and obviously I missed it.
“1 missed call,” the screen read. It was an unknown number with a 503 area code. “That’s Portland,” I thought. “Nike is in Portland.”
I don’t remember dialing. Or my initial fumbled conversation. All I could hear was my heart-beat echoing in my chest. And then that promising word, “Congratulations,” came from the voice on the other end of the line, my new boss.
“SHUT UP!” I screamed. I was the new Nike Field Reporter. I couldn’t believe it.
Over the past eight months I interviewed A list celebrities and athletes. I flew from coast to coast, hung out backstage at concerts, and snowboarded with professionals. I competed in my first triathlon and attended press conferences with journalists from some of the country’s top publications.
Most importantly, I watched my confidence and skills as a reporter evolve dramatically.
For a 23-year-old aspiring journalist, none of this would have been possible without Nike.
Now it’s your turn. Eight months ago, I was no different than you. One year out of college, with a passion for sports and a love of journalism. Those are the only requirements needed.
This is your time, so what are you waiting for?
Come and get it.

I love your story... but you need to show me how! I am a product development engineer in my mid 20's and I swear Nike has put a job posting FOR ME out there on their website. I mean an entry level product development position in women's active apparel, I couldn't get closer to a dream job!! However, no matter how many times I apply I cannot get anyone to call me back. Any tips, or suggestions to get my phone to ring?
