Simple, Deadly, & Right On Time

The irrepressible Rossoneri have their playmakers breaking out on simultaneous streaks.

On Saturday, Borriello followed up a Ronaldinho PK with a fantastic strike, the goal of the match.

But the second half belonged to the Brazilian and his hat trick as a second goal came from a header and the third an incredible shot under the right top corner.

Three could have easily been five, but Ronaldinho and Borriello will need some goals when the critical Milan derby comes next week.

Dinho Lights Up Milan

Inter Milan continues its breakaway through Italy, while Juventus and Milan can only hope for each and every victory.

When the two sides meet Brazil is all over the pitch. Each team has their share of South Americans, but only Milan has Ronaldinho, for whom everything seems easy again.

His header made it 2-0. Just a few minutes later, his controlled strike made 3-0.

And his smile lit up Milan, who still has a chance to catch Inter.

It's passion, it's strength, it's the will to win. Over 90 minutes against Rome, Ronaldinho gave more than a great performance:

He demonstrates team spirit, devotion, sacrifice. With his team down 1-0, he took the penalty with the consciousness of being at a crossroads. But nothing can trouble him. The shot was perfect, beginning the move toward victory.

Then magic in the midfield, a very precise pass to Pato, and the game was turned.

Did you see the happy feet? The fast footwork from the two-time world player of the year? The uncontrollable excitement flowing through the signature cleats right before running onto a ball from Pato and blasting home a jaw-dropping, last minute, UEFA Cup goal? No? Well than maybe you heard the announcement instead. Went something like this: Ronaldinho’s on point.

The adjustment period is over. The new environment, the new teammates, the fatigued body, the old contract - none of ‘em are a problem anymore. Ronaldinho’s feelin’ it and his team is now only a point away from the top spot in Italy.

In the most hyped game of the weekend, Arsenal outlasted Man United 2-1. There was excitement all over the field and chances for both sides, but ultimately it was Arsenal’s youthful team speed that proved the difference. Rooney or Cristiano could have leveled on more than one occasion, but for the first time in a long while, the ball didn’t bounce in their favor. It was an exhibition of soccer at its highest level; too bad somebody had to lose.

And then there’s Barca, posting a quiet little 6-0 win in La Liga. 6-0. Are you serious? Who’s gonna slow these guys down?

Inside the Lab: 10R

Jaw-dropping skill and a 100-watt smile. The ability to make professional defenders look like amateurs, all while grinning from ear to ear. These are the things that you notice first when watching one of the world’s most gifted players. But, Ronaldinho’s game is not only about glamour; it’s also about grit. He has the strength and determination to back up his audacity.

So how do you make a boot that can provide the softest of touches, but withstand the most brutal of challenges? That was one of the many questions designer Tom Minami was faced with when creating the latest 10R. So we sat down with Tom to get the lowdown on the design process.

What are the main differences between the new 10R and the previous version?
Tom: The biggest difference was that I could listen to him and get the feedback from the first 10R boot, which was huge. He liked the first one, but the main part he requested was softer leather.

What changes in the process when you are designing a shoe for one player in particular?
Tom: I would say most of the process is the same as the regular shoes, but we need to visit 10R often and make sure he’s a part of our team and he’s happy on every decision we make.

Did Ronaldinho make specific suggestions or was it more a matter of you creating a design to fit his playing style?
Tom: I think it’s both. He can tell us what he wants in boots, but also we could suggest some technical parts. For example, we came up with the story of futsal-inspired boots, which lead to heel kick, ball control functionality, and when we suggested it to him, he was very happy about it. As far as the design, he’s very open. He tries on the shoes before he says if he likes them or not, so I think fit and aesthetic are both important for him.

How did his personality influence the look of the shoe?
Tom: Everyone thinks he’s very flashy and he’d like flashy design and colors, but he is very conservative in boots and he likes the classic boot. So I was thinking of mixing the classic aesthetic and some modernity.

What made you go for a relatively simple black design versus the more colorful shoes we have seen in the last few years?
Tom: Our team thought that it’d be good to launch the 10R boot in black & white like the first one and potentially in the future as well. But you’ll see some colorful shoes in the future.
