Early Impact

Posted by DonJulio Aug 31, 2010

Players must make positive impacts early in the season to earn their time on the pitch.

Early in his German club's new campaign, Michael Bradley picked up where he left off this summer in South Africa by being the work horse in central midfield.

Playing the full 90 in both games to start the season and coming off his team's first win in 16 years against one of the league's most historic clubs, the USMNT midfielder's early impact has been made.

Two days away from the party that will bring in the team’s centennial, Corinthians had another gift for its faithful fan base: a new jersey and the old tradition of winning at Pacaembu stadium. The campaign for 100% victories on the home field was reinforced by a 2 to 1 victory and the return of Ronaldo to the turf, where he played over 60 minutes.

Iarley and Paulinho scored the goals and lead the fan base into a frenzy at a Pacaembu stadium filled to capacity, where the fans unfurled the Corinthians Popular Republic flag.

The team will now rest for the rest of the week, to commemorate Corinthians’ 100th anniversary; their next match is only on the 4th, again at Pacaembu.

Will it be the stage of yet another celebration?

With Ibrahimovic joining the Rossoneri the goal totals could be great this campaign.

Corinthians was top of the class this Sunday and deserved a 10. The same mark now represents the number of games Timão has remained unbeaten against the tricolored team, after this Sunday’s 3 to 0 victory over the rival from São Paulo at Pacaembu stadium.

To round things off, Corinthians sustains an impeccable performance on home field games: 100% use of the home field advantage. Besides its excellent performance, Timão benefited from a slip-up by the current championship leader to come even closer to first place.

Elias demonstrated his decisive skills once again and scored twice, while Jucilei also made his mark sealing the final numbers in the match.
