Play To Be Remembered

Sixty years ago the USA caused one of soccer's biggest upsets ever when they beat England side 1-0 at the 1950 finals, despite being 500-to-1 underdogs on a seven game losing streak. The victory was thought to be a misprint in newspapers worldwide.

The new 2010 home kit pays homage to that victory with a modern update that looks toward writing the future.

Appearing in their sixth consecutive finals this summer, the USA will hope to be inspired by the feats of their forefathers and go beyond one victory, beyond the first round, and play deep into the tournament.

"They say the U.S. doesn't have soccer history," Nike's Design Director for Football Thom Walker says. "But there's loads of history. What they don't have is a uniform tradition. So that is why we wanted to focus on something from the past that people have remembered as being a great jersey and a great moment in U.S. Soccer."

Featuring the latest in technological design, lightness makes greatness for athletes and fans alike, who will be able to get every ounce out of their performance with the new home kit.

Now there is only one thing to do: Play to be remembered.

Write The Future.
