Besides the almost 100 years of history, Corinthians is celebrating another landmark achievement: during the victorious game on Sunday the club scored its 10,000th goal.
The mark was achieved by Dentinho, who at 21 years of age enters into the team's history. "It was a dream of mine to score this goal, with the help of God it came true", stated the player during half time of the game that ended with a scoreboard of 2 to 1 for the team from Sao Jorge Park. It's a victory that places Corinthians once again among the four leading teams in the Sao Paulo championship.
From the club's founding on September 1st, 1910, to the game against Santo Andre, Corinthians played 5,152 games with an average of 1.94 goals per game. Claudio, the forward who played from 1945 to 1957, is the highest scorer of all time with 305 goals. The list goes on to include Baltazar. Playing in the same period as Claudio, he added 267 goals. Teleco (1934 - 1944) and Neco (1913 -1930) each had 254 goals.
So far Dentinho, who was brought up from the team's youth leagues, has scored 45 goals in his professional life.
Congratulations Corinthians, for one more achievement! Congratulations Dentinho, a young star who will certainly score many more goals for the team's faithful followers!
