Lindsay’s got a brand new athlete page and it brings you face-to-face with the gold medal-winning star. Tarp's page pulls back the curtain on her life and allows you to look inside her world, on and off the field, and gives you direct access to what's on her mind…or her camera.

Check out Tarp’s page to see her bio, stats and current status, which gives you the 411 on what exactly the soccer superstar is up to. And if that’s not enough to feed your Lindsay fire, you’ll also find a Q&A section where you can ask Tarp your most burning questions.

While you’re thinking up what questions to ask, take a look at Lindsay’s photo stream, news feed and blog updates, not to mention Tarp’s Locker, which shows you the gear she's checking out right now.

So come inside and see what's new with Lindsay Tarpley.

A Record-Setting Year

Posted by Gronamo Dec 18, 2008

By now you’ve probably heard: The WNT has been on a tear since, well, 2007. Last night the WNT brought a landmark year in American soccer to a close in a way that couldn’t have been more fitting.

With a decisive defeat of China at Ford Field, the girls moved the magic number to its final resting place: 33. And don’t tell us you don’t know already. The 33-1-2 performance on the year by the WNT is a record-setter in wins and winning percentage. That’s almost a 95% chance of victory. Vegas would call it the safest bet in sports. Period.

And one of the biggest reasons for this incredible success rate is the performance of Carli Lloyd. In honor of her heroic effort throughout the year, US Soccer just named Lloyd the 2008 Female Athlete of the Year. Congrats Carli!

With the 1-0 victory, the “Achieve Your Gold Tour” is now over and the girls are going on a one-month hiatus before returning in late January for their next training session. So that’s it. History has been made. Now bring on 2009.

WNT to the Rescue

Posted by Gronamo Dec 16, 2008

Make no mistake, the general situation in Detroit is pretty bleak. Between the car companies and the downright frigid weather, good cheer isn’t as plentiful as it could be.

But if all goes well on Wednesday at Ford Field, the WNT will give a little reminder of just how lucky America is to be such a leading athletic powerhouse – just in time for the holidays. Not to mention the match is indoors so the fans won’t freeze.

On Saturday the WNT returned to action with a 1-0 victory against the Chinese, a score which doesn’t quite do justice to the dominant performance the girls delivered. Carli began pouring on the pressure in the 9th minute with a barely-deflected blast, and the rest of the team never let up.

So with a W on Wednesday, the WNT will set the record for most wins by any national team in one season – 33 (and hey, without one, they still have the record at 32).

It’s the close of the tour, and the WNT has most certainly Achieved Their Gold. So tune in on ussoccer to see how the girls close out 2008 when they compete in the last international match of the year.

MÉS: More than football

Posted by Gronamo Dec 15, 2008

This is more than a match. It is where MÉS allows refugee children to be part of a team and have fun together through football and education. MÉS helps these children to feel joy, freedom, trust and pride. This is more than a victory. It is the chance to help them rebuild their lives.

MÉS is a partnership between FC Barcelona, Nike and UNHCR to bring sport and education to underprivileged youth and refugees around the world.

The net proceeds from the sale of MÉS-branded products will be distributed through the FC Barcelona Foundation and UNHCR to fund projects, which contribute to sports and education for some of the most disadvantaged youth and refugees in the world.

At mesfootball.org you can join the movement to make a difference in these children’s lives. On the MÉS website you can watch video from the Nakivalle tournament in Uganda, check out the product, show your support by joining the gallery, grab the MÉS digital pin for your own blog, or make a donation directly.

Holiday Party

Posted by Gronamo Dec 10, 2008

The WNT has a little more work to do before they celebrate the holidays. On Saturday, China is coming to town to take part in the last leg of the “Achieve Your Gold Tour.”

The Home Depot Center in Carson, California is serving host to the first match, giving the girls a touch of warm weather before they head up to Detroit on December 17th for the closing act. And the double-header is sure to be a pleaser. All players who took the field in the gold medal game against Brazil are on the 22-woman roster.

The last two times that our girls met the Chinese, they scored a combined five goals and let in none. Chinese ascendancy? Not yet. What’s more, Boxxy and Hucles are on the short list for the US Soccer Female Athlete of the Year award. Vote!

After you've voted, check out the women in action on ussoccer.com this Saturday at 6 pm PT.

Rooney: 100 and Counting

Posted by Gronamo Dec 2, 2008

Work harder. Run faster. Push yourself to make that final, 90th-minute run; to find that fleeting piece of real estate behind your mark; to think and to act when everyone else on the field is busy catching their breath.

Some people don’t know when to stop. Wayne Rooney is one of those people.

Here’s to 100. For every 99 times you question a professional footballer’s love for the game or dedication to the club, there’s #10 in the Manchester red. For every 99 strikers out there who dive when they shouldn’t and cheapen the struggle, there’s the tough kid from Crocky, grinding away, manning-up. For every 99 big-money stars who make you question their desire, there’s the indefatigable, unrelenting Rooney.

Here’s to 100, Wayne, and everything thereafter.
