With his first goal for Fulham, in his first season in England, Deuce Dempsey resuscitated an entire organization. After three months without a victory and a less than successful season, all of Craven Cottage was looking for a lifeline. It came in the form of an audacious Texan slicing towards the goal box, hitting a no-look thru-pass to an overlapping teammate on the outside, and then finishing his near post run to loft home the only goal of the afternoon. Funny how the relegation system works. A pretty little 1-2 and Fulham saved itself millions of dollars in sponsorship money and the chance to wipe its slate clean and start all over in the fall. If you knew nothing about the struggles the team had been enduring throughout the season, it would have been easy to mistake the win for a Championship derby. Americans can’t play real football? What was that? As midseason acquisition fighting for a starting spot, Deuce ensured himself that there’s much more Premiership to come.
