Josh Young and Curt Cameruci (aka, production duo
Flosstradamus) are yin and yang. Josh works out, Curt does coffee cup arm curls. Curt skateboards, Josh shreds the inline skates. Curt rocks canvas winos, Josh flosses black boots. But according to Josh, its their differences that make them so compatible, whether they’re chilling at their “art-commune-style” pad in Chi Town or rocking a crowd at one of their infamous shows. “We play off each other really well,” he says. It’s a formula as tasty as chocolate and peanut butter — just ask anyone who’s experienced the blend of house, hip-hop, trance and crunk they’ve been serving up since 2005.
When it comes to making music, they're 100% in sync on what it takes to get people moving: "Booty bass and jock rock!" says Curt. In fact, they're so passionate about the "jock rock" genre that their choices for PowerSongs are tracks you'd be more likely to hear at football stadium than a club - unless, of course, Flosstradamus are behind the decks.
We talked to Flosstradamus before their show in Portland about twiddling the knobs on
De La Soul's ARE YOU IN?: Nike Original Run. Check out the interview above.
