The Trial of Miles
29 July 2011 / 02:22 PM
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of changes for me- especially when it comes to my running career. Although this track season was much better than the last, I am still far from the personal bests I set as a collegiate athlete. When I came to the realization that I wasn’t going to get anywhere near those PR’s, I decided to hang up my spikes for now and take a new approach.
I have settled into a new apartment in Portland with my roommate Bria, who is almost two years younger than me but trying to qualify for the Olympic Trials in the marathon (a distance I don’t plan to touch for at least couple years)! Living with another runner has done wonders for my sleeping, eating and running schedule. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, because I have decided it’s time to take my training to the next level. At the most basic level this means upping the amount (and quality) of miles I run every week.
Combined with a more strategic strength, workout and race schedule, the changes I’m making now are going to make the difference for me in a year- when the trial of miles could help me get to the trials.

Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect
when it arrives & it puts itself in our hands. It
hopes we've learned something from yesterday."
