With over 35,000 participants, the Lisbon Half Marathon race is the oldest half in the world and now, one for the books.

Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea, smashed the Half Marathon world record in Lisbon with a time of 58:23. His pace beat the former record time set by Kenyan, Samuel Wanjiru by a significant 10 seconds.

But that’s not the only record he broke.

A few moments before, Tadese bolted through the 20k mark in 55:21 beating former best time set by Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia.

Tadese who was wearing the Nike Katana Racer, won the silver medal in Berlin for the 10k. He has his sights set on breaking as many world records as he possibly can.
