T+ 2 Days. Just two days post-Nike+ 10K Human Race.
On Saturday, October 24, 2009, the entire world joined together "On the Day The World Stopped to Run." And it was amazing! I ran in Stockton, California at Fleet Feet with about 100 other runners. I met so many wonderful new people. Everyone ran his or her hearts out! The entire world came together for this common cause and ran 790,732 miles! I was proud of my 48:34 finish, which put me 170th among all US Females and 2,922 in the world!
For me though, this day was more than just about "this day." October 24, 2009 was about the couple of months leading up to it. They always say, "Getting there is half the fun." I now know more than ever, that getting there is really MORE than half the fun!
Being the Leader of the Pied Piper Team has meant more to me than almost anything I've done in my life thus far! I chose the name Pied Piper for 2 reasons:
1. PASSIONATE would fit perfectly before it
2. On principle of definition - "a person who entices others to follow him"
In hindsight, there was NO BETTER name I could've come up with! The Pied Pipers have a PASSION towards not only Nike, Nike+ and running in general, but also a PASSION towards the commitment of making themselves better - making others better - and spreading the "great healthy word" to anyone and everyone they know!
Here are just a few stories I was blessed to hear:
-100+ pound weight loss since owning the Nike+/iPod
-rebounding after having children
-going from a 5K in October, 2007 to a marathon in October, 2009
-toggling in-and-out of hospitals due to health and yet still crossing the 10K finish line
And when it was all said and done, here are some things the Pied Pipers were saying:
"Very motivated for the next run." - Melissa
"Keep up these challenges! What's next?? LOL!" - Tracy
"I did it!!!! I just sync'ed my 10k. I did this on my 62nd birthday... 6.2-62!" - Rick
"Great Job Sarah!!! You are the BEST!!! Proud to be a Piper!!! I'm 7th overall; 3rd in the US!!!" - Carlos
"Proud to be a Piper!" - Lisa
"Nothing is better then hearing about the Pipers that are increasing miles, logging their PRs & first ever 10Ks!!!" - Mark
"Just finished my first 10K. I did it with only 8 toe nails, too. If I had 10 toe nails I probably would've won." - The Marlonian
"Got up before the wife to run a 10K on my honeymoon! Hopefully I wont be in the doghouse:)" - Ken
I had Pied Pipers along the way "Trash Talk" me saying, "I beat you. I'm ahead of you." (All in good, competitive fun of course!) But trust me, NEVER were there hard feelings. As a matter of fact, I was happy to hear that. When leading a team they always say, "Hire people better than you." I am so glad I did! I "hired" the best of the best and that energy/passion transformed into a highly successful
Pied Piper Team that ran over 105,000 miles in just a couple of months!
I am so thankful for all that the Nike+ 10K Human Race preparation and event has given (to)/taught me. In the "Meet the Ambassador's" video we made back in August, I stated, "I am extremely passionate with everything I do!" I believe I have proven this 110%. And because I believe it 110%, I know that
Passion doesn't have an End Date. I am just getting started! And YOU can come with US, too!

What I want to leave you all with today is what I've said from the beginning: "My Three Keys to Success: One, work hard. Two, be your own person. And Three, have a passion for what you are doing."
Are you ready to come with me/us for our next Running Challenge? "Half the fun of travel is dreaming about the next journey." I want YOU to come with US!
PIED PIPERS. YOU. ME. US. "Believe. Run with Pride. Run with Passion. Run with Us."
