The Nike+ Human Race 2009 is so close now. Congratulations on all your hard work in preparing for the day the world runs! You put a lot of time and effort preparing for the 10k you will do on your own or with others. No matter how that training has gone, you still did something. You should feel proud about the effort you put in to stay true to your training and be EXCITED about taking part in such a special experience!

Many things go through our minds during “taper time.” For those of you unsure of what that is, it’s the time between the most mileage you do and the big race day. For example, many runners complete a 20 mile run about three weeks before their marathon. From that day forward, the total mileage drops so your muscles can repair from all the weeks of training and at their best for race day.

What has gone through your mind? For me, I typically ask myself, “What could you have done better, Ken?”
I then wonder if I should have done more speed work, hill training, fartleks, more mileage, less mileage, more stretching, more cross training….I then remind myself that there really isn’t any reason to look back too deeply and overanalyze everything. It’s all about looking forward to the future to know that you can always continue to grow as a runner and as a person in all aspects of your life. Yes, we have our experiences from the past but we should not dwell on them. Move on and be better! It’s how we should take on life each day.

When 10.24.09 arrives, ROCK IT! ENJOY IT! LOVE IT! When 10.24.09 departs, ENJOY THE ACCOMPLISHMENT! SIGN UP FOR YOUR NEXT RACE! KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING! It has been a true honor being one of your Nike+ Human Race 2009 Ambassadors. At the time of this writing, my Facebook fan page has almost 500 fans. They include Nike+ users, those that became Nike+ users, and those that are simply excited and love seeing the activity of daRevoluCHIN. They are jealous of how they never joined the team so they are about to get run over by it. But, they will join us soon. I have no doubt. And, they will always be welcome!

I hope to continue being an inspiration for many of you, myself being a rookie runner having only started in 2007. No matter where you are in the world, stay excited and share that excitement with others as I have with you!
Happy trails! =)
