WHERE CAN I REGISTER?
You can register for the 2009 Nike+ Human Race New York at
www.nikerunning.com.
WHAT IS THE COST TO PARTICIPATE?
The registration fee is $20. All race entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. We are unable to transfer entry fees to other Nike races. Also, your registration, racing number and timing chip are non-transferable.
DO I HAVE TO BE A NIKE+ MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?
No. The Nike+ Human Race is open to everyone. Visit
Nike+ to sign up for the race. However, to take advantage of special training programs for the event, to access training tools like Nike+ Coach and to experience the full depth of the global Nike+ community, membership is recommended.
WILL THERE BE A CHARITY COMPONENT FOR THE NIKE+ HUMAN RACE?
Yes. Team In Training is NYC’s local charity partner, with $5 from every entry will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
WILL I RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION OF MY REGISTRATION?
Yes. A confirmation email will be sent once your registration is confirmed. A separate email from Nike, with participant information and packet pickup details, will be sent to all participants in October. You should print your Nike email and bring it with you to packet pickup.
IS ONLINE REGISTRATION SECURE?
Yes. The process uses a security technology called Secure Socket Layers, or SSL, which encrypts your personal and credit card information. Your information is secure when the web site address on the top of your screen starts with

WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY REGARDING THE INFORMATION SUPPLIED ON THE REGISTRATION FORM?
Nike does not share your information with any other parties without your consent. Nike will not share any information unless you have indicated on your registration form that you would like to receive information.
CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE IF I DON’T RUN IN PROSPECT PARK?
Yes, there will be several events in NYC at retail stores and five special Nike+ Human Race Kiosks on Manhattan's best running routes. In addition, you can always upload your Nike+ miles at home to join in as long as you are registered for free virtual race. Check
Nike+ for locations of retailers and kiosks.
WILL THERE BE REGISTRATION ON EVENT DAY?
Yes. There will be event day registration.
CAN I REGISTER FOR A FRIEND?
No. Each participating individual must personally agree to the waiver included in the registration process.
CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY RACE PACKET ON MY BEHALF?
Yes. All runners will receive an email confirmation from Nike approximately 2 weeks before the event. You may bring that email confirmation to pick up your friend’s race packet.
CAN I PICK UP MY PACKET ON RACE DAY?
Yes.
WHAT ARE THE COURSE RESTRICTIONS?
For the safety of all participants, skates, strollers or animals are not permitted, as per the rules and regulations established by the USA Track & Field. Due to the large number of entrants, all runners should line up at the start according to anticipated pace.
POST RACE EVENT DETAILS?
Race celebration immediately following at the on-site Nike+ Hub featuring Nike+ trials, footwear trials, tech clinics, music, refreshments, awards ceremony and prize giveaways.
IS PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE?
Yes, there is public transportation available.
Subway/Bus: The following subways are located near the Park: F train at 7th Ave. station, 15th St./Prospect Park station and Fort Hamilton Parkway station. 2 or 3 train at Grand Army Plaza station. Q train at Parkside Ave. station and Prospect Park station. S train at Prospect Park station. B train at Prospect Park station.
The following bus lines stop near the Park: B41 or B71 along Flatbush Ave. to Grand Army Plaza or Ocean Ave. B69 along Prospect Park West. B75 along 9th St. to Prospect Park West. B68 along Coney Island Ave./Prospect Park Southwest to Park Circle or Bartel-Pritchard Circle.

CAN I DRIVE TO THE EVENT?
Yes, but parking is VERY limited. Nike encourages you to take public transportation to the event.
From Manhattan, New Jersey and points west: Take Manhattan Bridge to Flatbush Ave., or take the Brooklyn Bridge, make left on Tillary St. and right on Flatbush Ave. Stay on Flatbush to Grand Army Plaza, follow signs for Prospect Park West. For Wollman Rink, proceed through circle to continue south on Flatbush Ave. Make right on Ocean Ave. and enter the Park at the Parkside/Ocean Ave. entrance.
From Westchester, the Bronx and points north: Take 87 South to the Triborough Bridge. Take Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (278) west to Brooklyn. Take Tillary St. exit. Turn left on Flatbush Ave. Stay on Flatbush to Grand Army Plaza, bear right for Prospect Park West. For Wollman Rink, proceed through circle to continue south on Flatbush Ave. Make right on Ocean Ave. and enter the Park at the Parkside/Ocean Ave. entrance. From New Jersey, Staten Island and points south: Take the Verrazano Bridge to Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (278). Take the Prospect Expressway to the 10th Ave. exit. Turn left on 11th Ave. to Prospect Park Southwest. For Wollman Rink, turn right on Prospect Park Southwest to Park Circle. Follow Circle to Parkside Ave. Enter Park at the Parkside/Ocean Ave. entrance. From Long Island: Take the Long Island Expressway (495) west to Brooklyn Queens Expressway (278) west towards Brooklyn. Take Tillary St. exit Turn left on Flatbush Ave. Stay on Flatbush to Grand Army Plaza, bear right for Prospect Park West. For Wollman Rink, proceed through Circle to continue south on Flatbush Ave. Make right on Ocean Ave. and enter the Park at the Parkside/Ocean Ave. entrance. From Belt Parkway, take Ocean Parkway north exit to Park Circle.
WHERE DO I PARK FOR THE EVENT?
Litchfield Villa: Public parking area in the back half of the lot in marked spaces only. Picnic House: Limited parking is available for Picnic House events only with a permit.
HOW MANY RUNNERS DO YOU EXPECT TO PARTICIPATE THIS YEAR?
There will be 5,000 participants.
WHERE DO I LEAVE MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS WHEN I RUN?
A bag check area will be available at the start of the race. You must wear your official Dri-FIT shirt to be able to check your bag. Your belongings will be secure throughout the run. Nike, however, is not responsible for lost/stolen items, so please do not bring any valuables. Be sure to allow enough time to get to the Start Line.
DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE BY A SPECIFIC TIME?
Yes. All race participants must complete the course one hour and 15 minutes after the last runner crosses the Start Line. The course should be open for approximately one and a half hours.
WILL THERE BE EXCLUSIVE NIKE HUMAN RACE GEAR?
Official Nike+ Human Race apparel and accessories will be available at various Nike retail stores throughout New York including NIKETOWN New York, NY Running Co and CitySports.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR THE RACE SHIRT ON EVENT DAY?
Yes. The shirt identifies you as an official Nike+ Human Race participant.
