Wintery in Wonderland

October 29, 2009

On October 24th, the whole world ran in support of the second annual Human Race.

In Oslo, some of us could say the weather conditions were less than desirable.

But for our spirited Norwegian friends, the wintery atmosphere made the run even more electric. 3 degrees Celsius, wind and snow? Perfect.

Over 300 runners took part in a physical race, sponsored by Nike, specialty running store Loplabbet and Sognsvann Rundt Medsols, a local running community. All of the proceeds were donated to children diagnosed with Cancer at the Radiumhospitalet in Oslo.

The race took place in Sognsvann, which is only 10 minutes outside of the City Center, with breathtaking panoramic vistas of nearby mountains and lakes. To give the runners even more motivation - as if the scenery wasn't enough - DJ Anders Jacobsen was on hand, spinning energetic tracks as the participants sprinted by, in thermal leggings, gloves and hats.

A fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

And for the Norwegians, a run in nothing less than a Wintery Wonderland.
