On October 24, 2009, run The Day the World Runs. Last year 780,000 runners from around the globe took part in the Nike+ Human Race 10K to celebrate running and support a good cause — and this year promises to be equally inspiring!

We made a few changes to the event this year that will make it more fun and easier than ever to get out and run. For starters, you can run with a group at one of 10 events in cities across Canada (see the list below).

Don’t live near one of the organized events? Not to worry, take part on your own terms! Register for the race, and then using your Nike+ system, log a 10K run on October 24th, and your run will be counted as part of the Nike+ Human Race.

And by the way, the race event locations below also offer weekly training runs, so get out there for extra motivation and inspiration as you prepare for race day. Check out the schedule here for training times and locations.

How to Register

The process for getting registered is super easy: Go to the “Register” section and select your preferred method: You can either run with a group at one of the 10 event locations across Canada, or register to run wherever you are on 10.24.2009 with Nike+.

The registration fee is $20 for the organized race events, with a portion from each registration going to support the Livestrong Foundation. There’s no registration fee if you choose to run on your own with Nike+.

After you’ve completed your run on October 24th, be sure to sync your run at Nikeplus.com to make sure your run is counted as part of the Nike+ Human Race 10K.

Then bask in the glory of knowing you took part in the largest race of its kind, running with the world.
