Blood, Sweat and Tears: Bring ‘em on

Winning isn’t complicated. It’s all about how bad do you want it? When you’re staring a 2-0 defeat in the face, will you shrug your shoulders and say you ‘did your best’ or will you roll your sleeves up and get stuck in?

As Mia Hamm, former US football player and Women’s World Cup winner, said:
‘The person that said winning isn’t everything, never won anything.’ If you’re not ready to dump your last remaining energy reserves on the fire in the 93rd minute to chase a winning goal, get off the field.

As Ji-Sung Park, Lucas Neill and Sergio Aguero show here, winning isn’t a matter of life and death – it’s so much more than that.
This is more than a match. It is where MÉS allows refugee children to be part of a team and have fun together through football and education. MÉS helps these children to feel joy, freedom, trust, and pride. This is more than a victory. It is the chance to help them rebuild their lives.

MÉS is a partnership between FC Barcelona, Nike and UNHCR to bring sport and education to underprivileged youth and refugees around the world.

The net proceeds from the sale of MÉS-branded products will be distributed through the FC Barcelona Foundation and UNHCR to fund projects, which contribute to sports and education for some of the most disadvantaged youth and refugees in the world.

At mesfootball.org you can join the movement to make a difference in these children’s lives. On the MÉS website you can watch video from the Nakivalle tournament in Uganda, check out the product, show your support by joining the gallery, grab the MÉS digital pin for your own blog, or make a donation directly.

Many things make Cristiano Ronaldo an exceptional player. But one thing makes him invincible.

Nike Pro is the ultimate range of first-layer clothing for world-class athletes to wear into battle. It reduces muscle fatigue, pulls moisture away from the skin and makes you feel invincible

And, as one Old Trafford legend discovered, Nike Pro can have dramatic results.
On 22 November some of Europe’s most exciting players will tear up the pitch in the Nike Mercurial Vapor Rosa – the new colour for speed.

The Mercurial Vapor is all about turf-burning pace. For 10 years it’s been helping the world’s fastest players squeeze every last drop of acceleration from their game. And for the last 7 years, the Premier League’s top scorer has worn Nike Mercurial Vapors.

Featuring a patented Vapor Traction System, the Mercurial Vapor Rosa delivers low-profile acceleration and multi-directional grip for match-winning changes of pace and direction. All recast in a bold statement that cries “this is how fast I am.”

See what Rio, Cesc, Theo and others think about the new colour of speed, then check back tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about.
Tiempo SL: light in touch, heavy in class

Everyone in football knows that form is temporary but class is permanent – and there’s no more sophisticated boot than the new Tiempo Super Ligera.

Crafted from the softest kangaroo leather, the boot’s contours are designed to mould to your feet the longer you play in them, offering unparalleled comfort and control. Whatever the game throws at you, a suede collar keeps your ankle cushioned, while the flexible outsole and dual density studs give you the onfield traction you need to make the most of the ball when it comes your way.

Weighing in at 25% less than the classic Air Legend, the Super Ligera is the latest and lightest Tiempo boot. And when every extra gram you carry means a split second less to play that killer pass, you need to know that what you’re packing on your feet is the very best out there, pound for pound.

Light in touch, heavy in class: check out the new Tiempo Super Ligera at the NikeStore.
Blood, Sweat and Tears: Mind Games

As Mark Twain once wrote, ‘It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.’ Fact is, football matches are won just as much by what’s going on between your ears as what’s happening on the pitch.

Having the mental steel to grind out results when the tide’s going against you. Using the crowd’s noise to raise your game, whether they’re chanting your name or booing you to the rafters. Winning your personal onfield battles – and playing with freedom even when the pressure gets cranked up so high you can see everyone around you starting to crack.

Think positive: it’s Blood Sweat and Tears, episode four.
Blood, Sweat and Tears: No Balls, No Brilliance

When football’s your life, there’s nothing worse than sitting on the sidelines while your teammates hit the hallowed turf and wait for the whistle to blow.

And when you’re playing at the very highest level, it’s the sacrifices you make – whether that means staying at home the night before a game, taking a hit for your team or, as Clint Dempsey once did, playing with a broken jaw – that matter just as much as hard work and ability.

That’s what Lucas Neill thinks – and that’s what he and the other six players in the latest instalment of Blood Sweat and Tears are about to tell you. Press play.

Blood, Sweat and Tears: Whatever it Takes

“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death… It is much, much more important than that.” Bill Shankly’s words have been repeated so often they almost feel like a cliché these days. But when you see the sweat pouring off the likes of Park Ji Sung, Clint Dempsey and Lucas Neill, Shankly’s words feel as fresh as the day they were first spoken.

Becoming a pro footballer is one of the most competitive careers in the world – that’s why the average time aspiring pros spend training every year is 1248 hours.

1248 hours. 74 880 Minutes. 4 492 800 Seconds. Translate those numbers into words and you’ve got the simple motto of Nike’s Blood Sweat and Tears athletes: Whatever It Takes.
Bootcamp: 5 things you need to know

Everybody’s talking about Bootcamp. Why? Because it delivers the very latest world class professional football training directly into your hands. For free. And it’s guaranteed to power your game with a serious performance boost.

Interested? Here’s five Bootcamp factoids to get your training juices flowing.

1. It’s a new way to train. There are skill programmes. And there are conditioning programmes. But Bootcamp’s hardcore aerobic conditioning works you hard with the ball at your feet. So your technique grows alongside your speed and stamina.

2. It’s where the pros go. Bootcamp is designed by top pro conditioning coaches <strike>p-1608</strike> and Paul Winsper. And brought to life by stars like Andres Iniesta and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. It doesn’t get any better. Fact.

3. It’s on mobile. Watch your vids right on your chosen training patch. Then time your drills and even count out your tempo with a toolkit of handy training tools.

4. You can choose your level. Bootcamp has three programmes. Choose according to your level of fitness and commitment. Choose your start date. Choose to stick at it. That’s it. Simple. Want to play it your way? Then just browse the drill library and make up your own programme for some training a la carte. It’s up to you.

5. It’s equipment-lite. Bootcamp doesn’t need much more kit than you, a ball and some willpower. Some drills are based on minimal exercise gear – but alternatives are always offered. And sure, it’d be great if you have goals and cones… but you are officially encouraged to make use of what you’ve got.

Organise football with Playmaker

Running a team is hard work. You’ve got countless players and a season of fixtures to manage.

There are players who can’t find the pitch (let alone their touch), players you’ve never seen before, latecomers, last-minute no-shows, holidays. And a world of pain.

Take the hassle out of organising football by managing your fixtures and teams online with Nike Playmaker.

Start by creating a fixture, finding a pitch with Google Maps and inviting the team. Playmaker automatically invites your players by email (and text if you’re based in the UK). No more endless email chains or unreturned calls.

When teammates reply your fixture is automatically updated so you can see who’s playing. And if you need to change any details, Playmaker sends the whole team a message.

Playmaker keeps all your players’ contact details in one place. So you can add individual email addresses or import groups of contacts from a single page.

Join Nike Playmaker and manage your team from one online clubhouse.

Watch the video to see how it’s done

Get started at nike.com/playmaker
Bootcamp Drill of the Week: Running Volley

You run. You volley. It sounds like the most natural thing in the world. But perfecting your finishing on the move calls for hours of training before you’re skilled enough to send the ball crashing into the top corner instead of row Z.

Outfield players, sit up and take note. Keepers, get low and take cover: Bootcamp's clinical Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar is about to bring the latest drill of the week to life.
Bootcamp Drill of the Week: High Gears

Who would you back in a race between a push bike and a sports car? And which would you rather be driving?

Changing speed is at the heart of top-level football performance, so every player needs a smooth-changing gearbox to win the races that matter over ninety minutes.

Bootcamp's High Gears drill gives you the tune-up you need to shift up and down the gears with ease when that match-winning sprint is on – for the loose ball, the last-ditch tackle, or that glimmer of a goalscoring chance.

Show how much you want it.
