Alexandre Pato’s double guided the Rossoneri to victory to keep the pressure on the league leaders, while on the blue side of Milan, Maicon’s dynamic performance galvanised the Serie A champions; his equaliser sending Inter on their way to a crucial 3-2 away win to maintain their four-point lead.

It was another roaming full back, Dani Alves, who put in the hard yards to inspire Barcelona to victory and send the champions back to the top of La Liga. His telling assist made the difference in a tight game at the Nou Camp as Barca prevailed 2-1.
