The serpent, il biscione, is proud and fierce, like the club it represents, Inter Milan. The coming 2011-2012 campaign offers new opportunity to take back the trophies that all belonged to Inter. The spirit of the serpent will lead that charge through it's depiction throughout the club's brand new kits.
A symbol of Milan since the thirteenth century, the serpent has appeared on the coat of arms of a succession of dynasties and states who have ruled the city. The reptile resonates across one of Italy's great and historic cities, proclaiming Inter as the authentic Milan club.
On the new home shirt, Inter's iconic stripes take the form of a bold geometric pattern with jagged edges that replicate the scales of the serpent and offer a more modern, serious and intimidating appearance, while echoing shirts worn during the success-laden 1960s. On the outside of the shirt, under a sharp v-neck collar is a graphic that reads 'Inter,' while inside the shirt and behind the iconic club crest, a graphic reads 'Nerazzurri' the club's famous nickname which translates as the black and blues ones.
The new away shirt maintains the traditional white color with a cross-over round neck collar. However, as Inter looks toward the future and adding to the club's abundant trophy case, a modern take on tradition appears with the head of the il biscione serpent rising over the right sleeve with it's varsity blue and black body coiling down
the right side of the shirt.
New kits for a new campaign. Respect the tradition but face the future.
