So when a small band of young footballers found themselves in the company of the Arsenal midfielder in the Nike BootRoom, they hung on every word. Cesc shared his insights on Arsenal’s young guns, the commitment it takes to make it as a pro player and how it felt to join Arsenal as a teenager.

After a training session under the watchful eye of Sir Alex, the Manchester United manager lectures the players on the belief, hard work and dedication required to make it at the very highest level. And after impressing Sir Alex in training, four of the squad are then chosen to show off their skills on the pitch at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 supporters.

After eight gruelling nationwide trials the final squad of 22 - the Most Wanted - has been assembled. The players are put through their paces by Peter Reid and Ian Rush, before heading off to the Manchester United training ground to perform under the gaze of Sir Alex.

Winning boot designs for Arsenal vs. Man Utd

Earlier in the season, we offered you the chance to design match-day boots for your favourite player when Arsenal face Man Utd on 08.11.08.

And you didn’t disappoint. More than 15,000 boots were submitted in just two weeks, with some incredible designs thrown into the mix.

Then it was then down to Cesc, William, Theo, Carlos, Wayne and Rio to choose their favourite boot from the ten most popular designs. It wasn’t easy, as the players demanded the best boots possible for the biggest game of the season.

Congratulations to Phillip Mektiev, Jonathan Bechthold, Joshua Rodger, Jan Szabala, Tony Brown and Ben Pritchard. You’ll all be at the Emirates when Arsenal take on Man Utd to see your designs on the feet of your heroes.
