Combat Team of the Week: January 5 to January 11

Basketball is combat. You have to attack your man on both ends of the floor. That means pushing the ball on offense, taking it to the hole, being willing to draw contact and then fight through it to finish. It means attacking on defense. Getting position and maintaining that position. Taking the ball away and altering shots. And owning the glass – being relentless on both the offensive and defensive side.

Every Monday, an NCAA team will be nominated as the Combat Players of the Week. Here is the squad who Prepared For Combat last week.

Texas Longhorns

There's no doubt the Longhorns are explosive. The team opened the Big 12 season with a 103-86 win over Colorado, the fourth time this season they topped the century mark. Texas' 15-game win-streak has been fueled by an aggressive offense and a lock-down defense, which results in a 25.6 scoring margin, the third-best in the country. It doesn't get any easier this week, as the Longhorns head to Ames to battle Iowa State, and then turn around to battle Texas A&M, Kansas State, and Connecticut over the next week.

What other teams were Prepared For Combat?
