So there’s the movie.

Where a collection of high school ballers are thrust into the global spotlight because their star player becomes a media darling - at age 16. Magazine covers became commonplace, debates about his prep-to-pro stardom raged and championships piled up.

But for LeBron James, Dru Joyce III, Romeo Travis, Willie McGee and Sian Cotton, the movie - like their lives at the time - was about much more than just playing the game.

Head coach Dru Joyce II served as their motivator, father figure and media shepherd as the boys battled the growing weight of expectations under the brightest spotlight amateur athletes had ever seen.

And really, the movie only exists because Director Kris Belman showed up one day to shoot a homework assignment for a college class - and never went away.

Where cities from Chicago to China are enraptured by the spectacle of cast and crew granting up-close-and-personal interviews at movie screenings, basketball skills academies, on-stage performances by local artists and a cornucopia of fun.
