The Lance Armstrong Foundation have joined forces with us to raise awareness for the global fight against cancer. From athletes and actors to cancer survivors, the “It’s About You” campaign features a series of short films that share inspirational stories of those who have been touched by someone living with cancer. While this message makes its debut alongside the Tour de France, it’s only the beginning of a much bigger fight.
Lance Armstrong puts this campaign into perspective best. “This campaign is not about me. I’m just one person, and I can’t fight a global epidemic alone. We’re celebrating the strength of those facing the adversity of cancer and giving them new ways to share their stories. It’s about inspiring people to turn hope into action, so we can beat this disease that strikes far too many, too often.”
One of the most innovative tools we are using to start the “It’s About You” conversation is called the “Chalkbot.” You simply submit inspirational messages online or through text message to this custom-made vehicle that will travel the Tour de France. At specific GPS coordinates along the course, your message will be written in yellow chalk for the whole world to see. Then you’ll later be able to see a picture of your message printed on the road at wearyellow.com.
But that’s not all you can do while you’re there. The LIVESTRONG site features a digital map of the Tour de France as its main feature, inviting people from all over to upload inspirational stories, photos and videos. You can also find coverage of various “It’s About You” events from cities across the United States and in France. This includes LIVESTRONG “Chalking” events in major markets and Nike athletes sporting yellow to help raise awareness among fans.
With this campaign, the Lance Armstrong Foundation will give millions the resources and support they need in the fight against cancer, while allowing you to take part. This time, it’s about sharing hope and making a difference. Because this time it’s about you.
