Inspiring through the Art of Step
Inspire, Educate, Recruit, and Empower are the words and themes that The Step Team for Social Justice lives by. Teaming up with NIKE, this group of 12 professional Street Team Steppers, between the ages of 15 to 26, will perform traditional college fraternity step routines that look to inspire viewers to change the world, to educate the public about the amazing charities associated with the Nike+ Human Race 10K (WWF, Livestrong, and ninemillion.com), to recruit individuals to participate in the world's largest race, and to empower everyone to join the Nike+ world.
Having experience in championing causes for major public organizations and events, the Step Team for Social Justice (a division of MMP, Inc.) has performed at over 500 community organizations and public events in 15 states and 3 countries. They have also been the proud recipients of the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008 National McDonald's Gospel Fests. This past experience and success has prepared them to take their routine throughout the five boroughs of New York in order to connect, motivate, and challenge all to join the Nike+ Human Race 10k and help change the world.
"It is a great pleasure to represent a world class corporation like NIKE and to be a part of such a historic event. NIKE truly embodies what it means to "do good" in the world. We are honored to support NIKE in addressing global issues that affect every day people," stated Melvin Miller, Creative Director/CEO of MMP, Inc.
With an intense schedule leading up to the Nike+ Human Race 10k, The Step Team for Social Justice plans to finish its tour on Randall's Island, performing for the 10,000 participants of the Nike+ Human Race 10k to celebrate the action of so many to help change the world.
