Meet Jessica Lozier - Nike+ Sport Kit Runner
Jessica Lozier, user of the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit, began running 1½ years ago as a means to give up smoking. She felt that it was time to take her health more seriously and decided that running would be her best option. Having a number of co-workers who frequently participate in NYRR races, she overheard a conversation about an upcoming race (The Gridiron Classic) and thought that it would be a fun idea to enter her first race. Though her experience quickly turned from a fun idea to a plea just to make it to the finish line, Jessica became hooked and wanted to take running more seriously.

"To be honest, that first race really hurt. While I was running, I kept questioning why people would run for fun. I was not having a whole lot of fun during the race. However, when I crossed the finish line, I had a smile on my face and the itch to run more competitively."

Jessica decided to join RUN NYC and has been regularly going for the past year. Though she likes the group atmosphere and the help from the NIKE pacers, it is her Nike+ iPod Sport Kit that gets her truly motivated to venture out for those long runs.

"The Nike Sport Kit is key. I began using it when I started doing longer runs because I was curious to know if I was maintaining an even pace. I like the ability to quickly hear my distance, pace, and time. Also, I am a big believer that music is the ultimate motivator. Usually after a run, I can't wait to download my run and check in on my progress. I won't lie; I also love entering into challenges and trying to out run my friends."

Since January 2007, Jessica had competed in five half-marathons and two marathons. She also has numerous races on the horizon including The Nike+ Human Race, New York Marathon, and the JKF 50-mile race in Washington County, Maryland.

"I am totally addicted to running. I have plenty of goals to accomplish. First, in The Nike Human Race, I want to set a PR which means breaking 47 minutes. After that, I want to run under 3:30 in New York Marathon and finally, I just want to finish the 50 mile race. I know this all sounds like a lot but I am motivated to push myself. Besides with all the music I just downloaded onto my iPod, I have plenty of reasons to go running. The real challenge will be to stick with one Powersong!"

Jessica's current Powersong is Jigsaw Falling into Pieces by Radiohead.
