WHERE CAN I REGISTER?
You can register for the 2008 Nike+ Human Race New York by clicking HERE.
WHAT IS THE COST TO PARTICIPATE?
The registration fee is $35. All race entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. We are unable to transfer entry fees to other Nike races. Also, your registration, racing number and timing chip are non-transferable.
IS MY REGISTRATION, BIB NUMBER AND TIMING CHIP TRANSFERABLE?
We are unable to transfer registration, racing number and timing chip are non-transferable.
WILL I RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION OF MY REGISTRATION?
Yes. A confirmation email will be sent from SignMeUp.com once your registration is confirmed. A separate email from Nike, with participant information and packet pickup details, will be sent to all participants in August. You should print your Nike email and bring it with you to packet pickup.
IS ONLINE REGISTRATION SECURE?
Yes. The process uses a security technology called Secure Socket Layers, or SSL, which encrypts your personal and credit card information. Your information is secure when the web site address on the top of your screen starts with https instead of http.
WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY REGARDING THE INFORMATION SUPPLIED ON THE REGISTRATION FORM?
Nike does not share your information with any other parties without your consent. Nike will not share any information unless you have indicated on your registration form that you would like to receive information.
WILL THERE BE REGISTRATION ON EVENT DAY?
No. There will be no event day registration. You must register in advance.
CAN I REGISTER FOR A FRIEND?
No. Each participating individual must personally agree to the waiver included in the registration process.
CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY RACE PACKET ON MY BEHALF?
Yes. All runners will receive an email confirmation from Nike approximately 2 weeks before the event. You may bring that email confirmation to pick up your friend's race packet.
WHERE DO I PICK UP MY RACE PACKET?
You can pick up your race packet at Niketown, located at 6 East 57th Street, New York, NY 10022, on the following dates:
Thursday, August 28th: 10am - 7pm
Friday, August 29th: 10am - 7pm
Saturday, August 30th: 10am - 5pm
CAN I PICK UP MY PACKET ON RACE DAY?
No, you must pick up your race packet at the packet pick-up location above. Due to the bib assignments being printed on the shirts, we are unable to accommodate race day packet pickup.
WHAT ARE THE COURSE RESTRICTIONS?
For the safety of all participants, skates, strollers or animals are not permitted, as per the rules and regulations established by the USA Track & Field. Due to the large number of entrants, all runners should line up at the start according to anticipated pace.
HOW FAR IS THE COURSE?
The course is 6.2 miles (10K). This USATF certified course features a 2 loop route around Randall's Island, starting near the Harlem Rivers Fields and ending in Icahn Stadium.
DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE IN A SPECIFIC TIME?
All race participants must complete the course one hour and 15 minutes after the last runner crosses the Start Line. The course should be open for approximately one and a half hours.
EVENT PHOTOS?
Event photos will be available post race on Brightroom.
POST RACE EVENT DETAILS?
Don't forget your ID! All registered runners over 21 years of age will be able to purchase beer at the post race concert.
POST RACE CONCERT INFORMATION?
The All-American Rejects will be performing after the race. Only individuals who have participated in The Human Race will be able to attend the concert.
TRANSPORTATION
IS PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE?
Yes, there is public transportation available.
Subway/Bus:
From Manhattan: Take the 4, 5 or 6 train or Metro-North to 125th St., then transfer upstairs to the X80 Express Bus (NW corner of 125th St. and Lexington Ave.), which runs nonstop to Randall's Island. A $5 round-trip fare is collected en route to the Island. If you transfer from the subway or bus with your Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard, only $3 is deducted. Paper Bus Transfers and dollar bills are not accepted.
From Long Island: Take the L.I.R.R. to 61st St. and Woodside, then transfer to the 7 train to Grand Central Terminal. Transfer there to the 4, 5 or 6 train or Metro-North to 125th St., then transfer upstairs to the X80 Express Bus (NW corner of 125th St. and Lexington Ave.), which runs nonstop to Randall's Island. Bus service runs from 3pm to midnight.
CAN I DRIVE TO THE EVENT?
Yes, but parking is extremely limited. Nike and Randall's Island encourage you to take public transportation to the event.
From Manhattan:
Get on the Triborough Bridge at East 125th Street. Stay left for the exit to Randall's Island, immediately after the toll plaza.
From Long Island and Queens:
Get on the Triborough Bridge from the Grand Central Parkway. Stay right for the exit to Randall's Island, immediately after the toll plaza.
From the Bronx:
Take the Major Deegan or Bruckner Expressway to the Triborough Bridge. Stay right for the exit to Randall's Island, immediately after the toll plaza.
From Brooklyn:
Take the FDR Drive North to the Triborough Bridge exit (on right). Stay left up to and after the toll, following the signs to Randall's Island.
From New Jersey:
From I-80 or the New Jersey Turnpike, get onto the George Washington Bridge. Follow signs for "Through Traffic" (on the upper level, stay to the left; on the lower-level, stay to the right) to get onto the Cross Bronx Expressway, then take the Harlem River Drive/Amsterdam Avenue exit. Keep left onto the Harlem River Drive, then stay straight to take the FDR Drive South to the Triborough Bridge. On the Bridge, stay left for the exit to Randall's Island, immediately after the toll plaza.
From Westchester:
Take I-87 (New York State Thruway) southbound. I-87 will turn into the Major Deegan Expressway. Follow signs to the Triborough Bridge, pass through the tollbooth, and stay to the right. Take the exit for Randall's Island.
CAN I ACCESS RANDALL'S ISLAND BY FOOT?
Yes, you can walk across the footbridge from E. 103rd St. in Manhattan onto Randall's Island.
PARTICIPANTS
HOW MANY RUNNERS DO YOU EXPECT TO PARTICIPATE THIS YEAR?
There will be 10,000 participants.
CAN WALKERS PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT?
Yes, runners and walkers of all abilities are welcomed and encouraged to join the 2008 Nike+ Human Race in New York. Please be advised that the roads will accommodate participants up to a 12 minute pace (1 hour, 15 minutes maximum time). Walkers that are behind this pace will be asked to continue the race on the sidewalk.
WHERE DO I LEAVE MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS WHEN I RUN?
Free baggage facilities will be provided as a convenience. If using this baggage service, bring an inexpensive bag and leave your valuables at home. NIKE/New York Road Runners is not responsible for lost or stolen items. All runners who wish to check a bag will receive a Tyvek wristband with a unique number printed on it. A rip-away tag with an identical number will be attached to the wristband. Pin the rip-away tag to your baggage, wear the band around your wrist, and place your baggage in the section corresponding to the last digit. Wristbands and safety pins will be available on site near the baggage area. To reclaim baggage, you will need to show your wristband and baggage tag to staff/volunteers. Failure to use a wristband for the baggage process may result in a delay to reclaim your bag. Baggage will close at 8:00 p.m. and any unclaimed baggage will be returned to NYRR for later pickup.

WHAT RACES HAVE THIS ORGANIZATION PRODUCED?
The New York Road Runners’ road races and other fitness programs draw upwards of 300,000 runners annually. They organize the New York Marathon and in conjunction with Nike and mktgpartners, the New York Half-Marathon presented by Nike.
WHY IS NIKE SPONSORING THE NIKE+ HUMAN RACE?
Nike has joined forces globally to create the world’s largest running event, with the goal of helping humanity in the process through givebacks to global charities.
WILL THERE BE EXCLUSIVE NIKE+ HUMAN RACE GEAR?
Official Nike Human Race apparel and accessories will be available at various Nike retail stores throughout New York including: NIKETOWN New York and Paragon Sports.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR THE RACE SHIRT ON EVENT DAY?
Yes. The shirt identifies you as an official Nike+ Human Race participant and it’s your ticket to the post event concert.
AWARDS
DO ALL RACERS RECEIVE A MEDAL OR CERTIFICATE?
Each Finisher will receive a specially designed Nike+ Human Race Finisher’s medal.
