Only 55 people brew Shiner beer at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas (pop. 2,070). Maybe that’s because only 55 folks are capable of carrying out the rigorous handcraft brewing process Shiner, TX insists upon. Most breweries spill more beer in a year than they make. Then again, some beers are worth spilling.

Since 1909, the “Little Brewery” has been brewing distinctive beers using traditional old-world methods and recipes. The brewmaster uses small-batch techniques and the finest ingredients to create beers big breweries can’t duplicate. They’re proud to be the oldest independent brewery in Texas and a leader in today’s specialty beer market. Like any true Texan, they are not accustomed to following.
