What is Austin Known For? LIVE MUSIC AND FITNESS!
So why not combine the two?

Here’s a a fun, live music-filled, 3.8 mile course that is sure to get you motivated as you run by some of Austin’s best music venues. No earphones necessary for this run; downtown Austin will be your playlist!

I’ve based this course on shows scheduled for Wednesday, July 9th to get you started, but I know that once you see how much fun it is, you’ll want to start planning your own live music routes!

Starting at the Continental Club on South Congress Ave. and ending at one of Austin’s best summer music series, Blues on the Green, you can find this custom-made, soul-shakin’, heart-pumpin’, feet-movin’ course on the USAT&F website here. I have also highlighted the route, step-by-step, below:

Suggested Start Time: 6:30 p.m.

Begin: Continental Club, 1315 S Congress Ave., 78704
Show: Shotgun Party, 6:30 p.m.
Run: North on S Congress Ave. for about 1.1 miles where you will pass by:

Location: Elephant Room, 315 Congress Ave., 78701
Show: Jazz Pharoahs, 6:00 p.m.
Run: N on Congress Ave. for about 0.2 mile and turn left on W 4th to pass by:

Location: Cedar Street Courtyard, 208 W 4th St., 78701
Show: Travis Damron Project, 6:00 p.m.
Run: Continue on 4th St. and just a few buildings down, you will hear:

Location: 219 West, 219 W 4th St., 78701
Show: Breezy, 7:00 p.m.
Run: Continue west on 4th St. and turn right on Lavaca St. As you approach 5th St., you will pass by the famous:

Location: Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St., 78701
Show: Eric Tessmer Band, To start later in the evening, but if you’re lucky you might here the band warming up!
Run: Continue running for 1 more block on Lavaca St., and turn left on to 6th St. to pass by an Austin favorite:

Location: The Belmont, 305 W 6th St., 78701
Show: The Motts, 7:00 p.m.
Run: Continue running west on 6th St. for another 0.2 miles where you will run by:

Location: Momos, 618 W 6th St., #200, 78701
Show: Pocket Fox, 5:15 p.m.
Run: Take a break and enjoy the beautiful sites of Austin for 2 more miles!

• Continue west on 6th St. for about 1 block
• Turn left on Rio Grande St. and run to the end of Rio Grande, following the road as it turns left onto 4th St.
• Continue running for 2 blocks and turn right on San Antonio St., where you will run for 3 blocks until you reach Cesar Chavez St.
• Cross to the south side of Cesar Chavez to jump onto the Lady Bird Lake trail and follow the trail west.
• Hop onto the pedestrian bridge between the 1st St. Bridge and N. Lamar Blvd. Bridge to cross the lake.
• Take the path that turns to the right when you come to the fork in the pedestrian bridge and continue west on the Lady Bird Lake trail.
• Stay on the trail for about another 0.5 miles until you reach Barton Springs Rd. where you will turn right.
• Take a detour for a quick dip in the natural Barton Springs pool to cool off before you celebrate your run at your final destination:
