The Power of One (Million)
On 8.31.08, Nike is bringing together One Million athletes for a worldwide event unlike any other. In the U.S., Austin is one of only four cities that will host the Nike+ Human Race. Texans will have the opportunity to show the world what they’re made of. Look out world.
It’s not about whether you run fast or slow, everyday or every so often. This race is about something bigger. The Nike+ Human Race is about people all over the globe coming together to support important causes and have fun doing it. The runners that take to the streets on 8.31.08 will be part of one united global community.
On race day here in Austin, runners will gather at 6:30 p.m., and wind through a course, which includes the Texas State Capitol, Austin Museum of Art, City Hall, the Warehouse District, University of Texas, The Drag, Bob Bullock Texas State History museum, the Red River District and Sixth Street. Runners will include top Nike athletes such as seven-time Tour de France champion and Austin local, Lance Armstrong.
Austinite Benson Kelsey will be one of those athletes running on 8.31.08, and all he needed was a little external motivation. “I run with my dog every day, but I have always wanted to run a race,” said Kelsey. “This was the motivation I needed. I want to run for charity, and I want to do it on a momentous day where people all over the world, many of whom are probably running their first 10k, will be out there with me.”
So, where will you be on 8.31.08? Will you be one in a million?
Just do it.
