Me and the Human Race
Dear readers of the Nike+ Human Race Blog,

You won’t be reading this until I’m on the starting line. It’s the evening before the race, and as I sit here, looking out at the shiny lights of downtown Vancouver, I’m filled with happiness and excitement.

I’ve spent the entire summer preparing for the Human Race. Naturally, I’ve done that by training for the 10km run, which has been awesome—but more importantly, by really considering what it means to be a part of something this big.

Tomorrow, (which will already be well underway as you read this) people from six continents will be part of a single community.
Imagine the collective training hours that went into the world’s first global 10k run. Imagine the different sights we have all seen while training. Imagine the obstacles many have overcome to be here.

The Nike+ Human Race was intended to be a celebration of human potential. At the time I’m writing, it hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already accomplished its goal. No matter what happens during the run, we are all joined. We are all part of a massive global achievement, and for this we should be very proud.

It’s been a joy to be part of this race, and a real honour to have been able to show the world a little bit of Vancouver, a city truly worthy of an event of this caliber.

Wish me luck!

Grace
