Betcha didn't know there was a hot tub
What you do know, likely, is: there will be a 10km run.
What you might not have realized is that the Human Race is much more exciting than a regular old 10km run. This is true in many ways, but right now I’m just talking about the on-location night-of perks of participation.
For one thing, it’s a free concert. Canadian bands Theory of a Deadman (Nickelback’s little protégés) and The Trews (think a more pop-driven Pearl Jam) will be performing live, for free.
Clearly, Nike wants this to be a success. Beyond the CanCon, there’s a relaxation zone featuring hot tubs and massages. I am not joking. It’s a bring your own suit-and-towel situation. (Although, my guess is that there will be a goodly number who hop in for a soak dressed in dri-fit shorts.)
Personally, I can’t wait to watch the vids at the Run World Stage. It may sound silly, but the Human Race IS a singular historic moment. This will (probably) mark the first time that 1 million people have participated in a single-day running event. Participants can witness this happening firsthand at the Run World Stage, where we can check out videos of other participants crossing the finish line in places as remote as Sydney and Singapore. So. Cool.
And there’ll be free, healthful food at the West Coast Patio. There's even a beer garden, called (ha ha) Kilometer 11.
BYOS&T. See you in the hot water!
