Yoga For Runners. For Serious!
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was incorporating yoga into my training routine, and how it was really helping.

But I had no idea it could help like this! One session at Christine Felstead's Yoga For Runners class, and my legs have felt better on runs this week than they have since I first put sneaker to pavement.

Because it’s a yoga practice specific to runners, there’s no focus on the mystical/incense/chanting side of yoga (I’ve been to those classes...and have made quick exits from them).

Instead, Christine is funny and charismatic, offering up training-specific gems in between poses to a co-ed class that ranged in age from 16 to 50-something. I was among a few other first-timers, and she made sure everyone was staying within their limits while still encouraging us to push ‘em.

As a runner herself, she knows how to tailor the physical benefits of a variety of yoga positions to help prevent and soothe some of the pains and injuries that can result from overtraining.

I wish I could list them all here, but it’d probably be easier to just pick up her DVD. I didn’t grab one after the class, and I’ve been kicking myself ever since. It’s the kind of thing I’d like to do daily.

I can’t recommend the class enough. If you’re in Toronto, check out her schedule here. If you’re elsewhere, I mean, I’m not saying book a trip to Toronto just to take the class…but you wouldn’t regret it if you did.
