Why Isn’t This Jam Already The Soundtrack To My Life?
Whenever I read about workout music, or running playlists, the songs involved seem to usually fall into one of two categories:

1) The quintessential Jock Jams
2) The raddest of the new indie/hipster tracks

And no knock against either category, it's just that I feel like everyone who's ever strapped Nano to arm knows about "Eye of the Tiger" and Justice.

In the spirit of opening up your playlists to the unheralded, here’s the first installment of Unexpectedly Awesome Running Jams.

1) R. Kelly – I'm A Flirt
When you’re just jogging out those first steps, the king of R&B is right there with you, seducing you into a canter.

2) Annie Lennox – Walking On Broken Glass
It’s like the woman recorded a crisp spring post-sunshower morning and then threw a hot beat underneath. It’ll make your legs smile.

3) Kiss (Ace Frehley) – New York Groove
It’s a cover, sure, but that hooky, moderate 4/4 thump is perfect for planting strides on a mid-tempo run.

4) Journey – Don't Stop Believing
Detroit Red Wings fans know this one off by heart, and you should, too. After one listen, the line “Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit” will make your knees pump that much higher.

5) Beyonce – Irreplaceable
Yeah, it’s a breakup song. But it’s also the hottest cool-down ever put to tape.
