EVENT SPECIFIC QUESTIONS
Q. What is the date of the event?
A. Sunday, August 31 2008.
Q. What time do gates open and when does the run start?
A. The gate opens at 5:00pm, and the run start time is 7:00pm. We encourage you to get to the venue site early.
Q. Where is the event taking place?
A. The event site will be in the heart of the sports and entertainment district, at the former location of historical Larwill Park. The venue site is right behind the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and the race start point will be the corner of Georgia Street and Cambie Street.
Q. How many people will be running? Is there an age restriction?
A. There's capped limit of 13,000 runners. The minimum age to run is 13. There's no maximum age restriction!
Q. Has this event happened before? Will it happen again?
A. No. Although there are various Nike running events throughout the year, this is a special one-time only event involving 25 different cities around the globe.
Q. How much of my registration goes to a charity?
A: Run locally, help globally. During registration choose the charity you want to support: UN Refugee Agency, Lance Armstrong Foundation, or the WWF. +Nike will donate $5 of each
$50 registration fee to the Nike+ Human Race fund to be distributed equally to the three Nike+ Human Race charities, up to US $1.5 million. Funds will then be distributed in proportion to the kilometres run by runners supporting each charity+.
Q. What if it rains? Will the race still happen?
A. In the unlikely event that it rains, yes, the race will still go on!

Q. Where can I register?

Q. Is there a registration fee?
A. Yes, it's $50.
Q. Are there refunds?
A. Refunds will be not be guaranteed, and only permitted on a case-by-case basis.
Q. Can someone else pick up my race packet on behalf?
A. Yes. Participants can have a friend or family member pick up their race kit only if the friend or family member has a signed, print out of the confirmation email.
Q. Where can I pick up my race kit?
A. There are four pack pick up locations. You'll be asked to select your preferred pack pick-up location during the on-line registration process. The four locations are:

Q. Can I receive my registration packet by mail?
A. No. Only in-store at one of the above four locations.

A. Yes. Coming soon, volunteers can register online.

Q. If I'm not going to drive and I live outside of walking distance, how do I get to the event?
A. Public transportation will running on the day of the event. Options include the bus, seabus or skytrain. Please visit www.translink.bc.ca for further information.
Q. I'm driving to the event, but I am carpooling, where can I park?
A. There are numerous parking lots within walking distance from the venue. Each lot is subject to parking availability and there is a fee to park. The lots nearby are listed below:

THE RACE
Q. Is this race competitive?
A. There will be race awards for all participants on event day. There will also be a limited number of run awards for top ranking participants. You will also be able to compare your results to other participants at their local race, as well as globally. However, it's up to you whether you'd like to see.
Q. How long is the race?
A: 10km
Q. Can I see the route?
A. Soon, you can view the route map online and it will also be supplied in your participant race kit.
Q. What is the terrain of the course?
A. Asphalt and concrete.
Q. How do I know where wave my is? And which wave should I sign up for?
A. There will be signage with numbers depicting the start point of each wave. You should sign up into the wave that reflects your estimated running time online during the registration process.
Q. How will I know how long it took for me to run the race?
A. Make sure the chip timer you picked up is secured to your running shoe. You can then find your running results online and posted at the event.
Q. Can I walk the race?
A. We encourage you to run the race to experience the course in its greatest form. Participants of course have the option to stop and walk at any time.
Q. Will there be bib numbers to identify each runner?
A. No. Each runner will have a running shirt that has the same number on it: the Nike+ Human Race logo. Instead runners will be identified by their chip timers.
Q. What do I do with my chip after the race?
A. You get to keep it as a memento of the Nike+ Human Race!
AT THE EVENT
Q. Will there be baggage check?
A. Yes. You'll be able to store your bags for free at the event.
Q. Are there bathrooms on site? Where are they?
A. Yes. There are port-o-pottys on site, located on Cambie Street, as well as near the beer garden. There will be a enough port-o-pottys to meet the needs of all the participants.
Q. Is there food on-site?
A. Yes. There will be a West Coast Style BBQ Menu for participants located in the Pacific Patio area on-site. Bring some cash to purchase food and beverages from the menu.
Q. Do I have to purchase food or is it included in my participant fee?
A. Most items will require payment however there will also be free sample-size snacks.
Q. Will I be able to buy any Nike products at the event?
A. Yes. There will be a product pavilion where Nike products will be available to purchase.
Q. Will I be able to see any highlights from other parts of the world and their races?
A. Yes. The Run World Stage will feature global highlights of the other races taking place.
Q. Is there entertainment? What is the schedule?
A. Yes. There will be on-site entertainment from 5:00pm-11:00pm.

Q. Who are the bands playing?
A. We've got a cool line-up including Theory of a Deadman and The Trews.
Q. What's the difference between the Run World Stage and the Human Race Stage?
A. Global highlights will show the other races around the world at The Run World. Athletes and special guests will be interviewed on this stage, too. The live bands will play at The Human Race Stage during the evening.
Q. Is there assigned seating for watching the entertainment?
A. No. There is limited seating in the area that will be on a first-come first-serve basis. There will be some bleachers on-site, seating within the beer garden, and a standing room area.
Q. What is Kilometer 11?
A. Kilometer 11 is the beer garden. Participants must be 19+ to enter (2 pieces of valid I.D. required please)
Q. Do drinks cost money?
A. Yes. There will be a charge for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Water will be free at the H20 stations.
