10 Kilometres. Per game!
When next you happen to see a European Cup match on TV (like, every day from now until the end of June), try watching for an info graphic at the bottom of the screen titled “Distance Covered”.

Are you doing it? Right Now? If not, spoilers below:

Professional soccer players run an average of 10km per game. So crazy!

And by “crazy” I mean “inspiring”. This weekend, for my first “Ok, I guess I should train for this Human Race dealy”, I’m going to run the streets of Toronto with a soccer ball at my feet.

My brother refers to this plan as “your worst idea ever,” but I’m privately referring to it as “Jog Bonito”. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Possibility of sore inner thighs at conclusion? Medium to high. But I’m prepared to risk moderate, easily-overcome injury to win your love. Or at least your non-hate.

What else? In the next couple months I’m going to talk to runners from St. Johns to Victoria to see how they’re preparing for their 10k on August 31st. (Want to be featured on Nikeplus.com? Hit me here: juliopeartree@gmail.com)

More teasers? Fine. Expect posts on yoga for runners, Running Room training sessions, how to Run Where You Are (I’m doing the Human Race remotely from Toronto), and the most unexpectedly awesome jams for your salty, salty earbuds.

And, according to my brother, a soccer-ball-related broken ankle.
