Getting Joggy With It
Although hasn’t been feeling like it in Vancouver, it’s irrefutably summer. I was at the Nike Runner’s Lounge on Saturday morning, for a summer solstice 5km training run, and a gentleman there told me that the official solstice occurred at 4:59pm on June 20th. (Did you know that during the solstice you can balance an egg on its end? I didn’t until Saturday.)
So now that we’re in our longest days of the year, what to do? Among other exciting things (riding a motorcycle! eating ice cream!) this summer, I plan to train for the Nike+ Human Race and hopefully to entertain you along the way, with tales and tips, routes and recipes, playlists, news, behind-the-scenes info and much more.
I’m a longtime runner, but I realize not every one reading this blog will be. So to keep things interesting, I’ve challenged non-runner Caroline to train along with me. Caroline has never run in a race before. We’ll be checking in with her progress throughout the summer, to see if she can attain her goal of running 10km in less than an hour.
